Just 30 minutes from London, 3 AA Rosette award-winning Drakes Restaurant is an outstanding gastronomic dining establishment in the scenic village of Ripley.
Housed within an impressive red-brick Georgian building, Drakes Restaurant offers beautiful views of the garden from the boutique-style dining room which exudes a light and airy ambience. Oozing flair and finesse, the delectable dishes from the Drakes menu are presented with elegant simplicity and strong flavours from the fresh, seasonal produce.
Amongst the signature dishes are lamb saddle with slow cooked belly, thyme and braised chicory or the halibut served in a rich oyster cream with sea purslane, radish and sea water sauce. Tempting and decadent, the dessert menu at Drakes Surrey boasts sample dishes like the delicious warm pistachio cake with black olive and banana parfait.
The relaxed lounge area at Drakes Ripley features local gallery art and drinks are served in the walled garden during the summer. The exceptionally well picked wines also complement the superb menu.

3of us had the Autumn menu at lunchtime. In addition to the 3 course menu we received a trio of appetisers and a broccoli and oxtail soup and also coffee with petit fours
. We found the meal wholesome and exceptional value. Every dish sampled had something memorable and we discussed long and hard what a best/favourite dish was.
Undecided but would recommend the salmon and crab starter and both the guinea fowl and Brill main courses with the pineapple dessert to follow.Frontof house were welcoming and unobtrusive adding to the overall, relaxing experience

Excellent dining experience. Innovative and skilfully executed vegetarian menu - the gnocchi with onion jus was inspired and who would have thought my main dish of potato, brassica, mustard and horn of plenty could be so delicious. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his mackerel starter and Guinea fowl main. Our sweets were a work of art and delicious and your staff were attentive and courteous. We will certainly be recommending your restaurant to our friends. We have already decided to return for my birthday next year in March and our very special wedding anniversary in October.

The food is excellent, a very nice atmosphere, enough space between tables, staff are lovely but service is very slow. We had a table booked for 8.45 pm was not seated untill 9.10 and did not get our starter untill 9.45.
Which way too late for us. Have been quite a few times but it is always the same a slow service.
Also very mean with wine if you have single glasses or marry the wine to the food, so we always buy a bottle now.

This was our first visit to Drakes, We were greeted warmly and treated to a selection of canapés on arrival which gave a hint of the delights to come. We chose to indulge ourselves in the Taster Menu and Wine flight. We were shown to our table in a simply but delightfully decorated restaurant, understated with comfortable chairs where we settled ready the experience to come. Every course was a feast for the senses, all distinct from the other, full of flavour and beautifully presented. Simultaneously, we travelled the globe sampling wines carefully chosen to complement each course, their provenance eloquently explained as part of the experience. The service was extremely efficient and unobtrusive. I genuinely cannot pick a favourite dish, but the tea to finish we served with an entertaining and practical flourish which was a fitting end to a thoroughly enjoyable lunch.
