We had lunch on my birthday last year and it was amazing. Went again this year and it was just as good!

We went yesterday to celebrate my partner's birthday. When The Clock House was Drake's, it was my favourite restaurant of all time, so I was slightly apprehensive. This was allayed as soon as we got through the door for lunch. The staff were the same and their welcome was as warm as ever. And then the lunch proper started, with the complimentary appetisers being of such high quality. An exceptional amuse bouche of pureed broccoli with morsels of ox tongue followed. The Clock House was serving the "Winter Menu" and the two courses we had were of such high standard. We usually ask the sommelier to serve his recommended wine and this time he came up with a stunning 'Piano del Cerro' from the south of Italy. I'd never heard of it and promptly ordered 6 bottles when we got back home.
It remains that this restaurant is my favourite one, ever, with their friendly staff, exceptional food and comfortable surroundings. I cannot fault it on any level and can only wish that my pockets were deep-enough to dine there every day.

Absolutely loved the experience. The staff were friendly and not snooty at all and made us feel very welcome. Service was top notch not rushed very relaxed but you never waited too long. Food was amazing. We are definitely going to come again. Thank you for a truly wonderful lunch.

We had the tasting menu. Due to not liking pearl barley they kindly swapped that dish with the beef. All dishes were amazing! Scallops were incredible. The menu sounds interesting but everything goes well together! Service was great, did not feel ignored at all and we're always there if we needed them. Dishes were all explained well and recommended desert wine which was amazing.
