Excellent service - very attentive, making sure we were okay in a friendly and non- pushy way which was refreshing. Great menu - lots of variety. Well prepared & great quality food.

With an inventive menu of homely British food, Davy’s Wine Vaults in Greenwich offers al fresco dining and an extensive range of vintages. A London stalwart for over 40 years, its wood-panelled caverns are cosy and inviting, with Davy’s Sunday afternoon lunches accompanied by live music.

The pleasingly rustic Davy’s Wine Vaults menu bursts with tempting taste combinations. Potted pheasant with plum pickle, or deep-fried goat’s cheese with beetroot and orange blossom honey make flavourful starters.

Vegetarian mains include butternut squash and shallot tart, and Portobello mushroom stuffed with Waterloo cheese and red onion. Chargrilled steaks, pan-fried halibut and lemon-battered fish and chips are among hearty choices from the Davy’s Wine Vaults kitchen.

Artisanal British cheese and chutney make a fitting conclusion, while the Davy’s sommeliers are happy to guide you through its hundreds of alluring world wines. Davy’s Wine Vaults in London is a convenient 2-minute walk from Greenwich Train Station and DLR.

We had a very enjoyable time.
Our waitress was friendly and attentive. The food was very good, and my niece particularly enjoyed her fish and chips. The wine as ever is excellent.
I used to visit Davys every week, for years, about 25 years ago. I love that the interior is much the same, but the food has drastically changed, and improved. The choice of wine is even better, and that you now do beers.

Booking was overlooked despite being made a month and a half earlier and numerous email communications about the menu, deposit etc. We were given a table by the bar as a last resort, surrounded by noisy drinkers, which somewhat spoiled the experience.
Food was ok, but various a la carte items not available and waiter did not know this in advance of us ordering. Furthermore, we had to ask for various things to be served, such as bread with a pate starter - bizarre!
I have dined here a few times in the past and always enjoyed the experience, but this particular evening was a real disappointment.

An excellent evening, staff were attentive and helpful, food was top notch , wine suggestions by staff and selection of wine available made for a great evening, the restaurant had a lovely atmosphere and the cocktails in the cooperage downstairs finished the evening well, I would certainly look forward to visiting again and again,

Staff were very welcoming and attentive throughout the evening
From the bar staff to the restaurant
Food was delicious as was the choices of wine. The only reason the Restsurant doesn't get a top mark is the Restsurant decor could have more atmosphere as quite drafty and lacking atmosphere

I still love ths place but was not the best experience we have had there, after entering the place and having nobody say hello we went to the bar to announce we had arrived, after 30 minutes at the table our order was taken (unfortunately I had to remind them that they had a special menu and event that day ) Father's Day seemed to have slipped our servers mind !

A customer came in shouting they needed to use the toilet ( using words I had to explain to my 5 year old that he shouldn't )and waiting today to see if they are repeated in the school yard !

The food was ok the soup my partner had was so peppered it should have been a item on the description ( we did tell them as it was early enough on the day to see it rectified -but why was it not tasted before serving )?

Main course was ok with roast beef but the beef had been rested after cooking so long it was cold .....we didn't bother telling anybody as nobody came back to ask (maybe we had upset them with the soup comments )?

We got to dessert but again it felt all a bit of an effort to get anything or attention I had to go to the bar to ask for the menu for my son ......this was our first Father's Day together and don't think the place is suited to families (Father's Day should be left to other places to do that can cater for families )

On such a key day in restaurants I was surprised not to see the manager here .....it lacked any sign of structure, discipline or priority to the day

Although ths sounds harsh it is a place I love but come on Davy's this certainly isn't the standards of the city !

Although it asks if I would recommend the place to a friend the answer will be yes but .......it's only from past reputation and this will not last forever

Booked for Mother's Day, through Bookatable, so didnt even know what the place was like, just liked the look of the menu. I had the cod with lentils and cherizo, highly recommended. Oh lets face it you cant go wrong with the menu. Just got a bit sticky with the bill when the 5th person in our party arrived late, then it went a bit pear-shaped, but all resolved by helpful manager.

The quality of the food was very good. The goats cheese and three beetroot starter eexcellent but was so small it could have been eaten in two mouthfuls.....this was the theme......,tasty, but small portions therefore in my opinion not value for money.
We was not rushing ....so not a worry ....but service was slow.

An enjoyable evening, as usual at Davy's, but not quite the easeful efficiency we have become used to. Was this because it was a bright & sunny Friday evening with many diners & drinkers? We usually meet here on a Wednesday evening when it is a little less frenetic.

The staff were as cheerful as ever, but the fish was perhaps a little overdone & the squid starter was tough & chewy, usually a sign of over- cooking. However, when this last complaint was brought to the staff's attention it was immediately withdrawn from the bill - a prompt, decisive & palliative response that restored my faithless in this excellent dining venue. There was then an inaccuracy with our bill that was quickly resolved, but it seemed that Davy's was just a bit off its game on this occasion.

I come in from Kent every couple of months to meet with friends from London & eat at Davy's & look forward to normal service being resumed on our next visit.
