At the vibrant heart of G&V Hotel Edinburgh is Restaurant Cucina, a vivid, bustling, designer restaurant. The freshest seasonal ingredients and hearty flavours epitomise the authentic modern cooking that has been inspired by classic Italian cuisine.

Perfectly positioned at the corner of George IV Bridge and the Royal Mile, just steps from Edinburgh Castle, G&V Hotel is in the heart of Edinburgh. Open all day from breakfast until late, Cucina at G&V Hotel offers a menu of fresh, seasonal and authentic Italian dishes such as oven roasted partridge with balsamic glazed pumpkin or lemon sole with pine kernels and black olives. The exquisite dessert list has innovative decadences like chocolate orange bavarois with mandarin purée and balsamic vinegar ice cream or apple panna cotta with Cox apple petal and Granny Smith apple sorbet.

As the day progresses, the atmosphere changes from open and relaxed at breakfast and lunch to vibrant and intimate for dinner. In the stylish bar, there is afternoon tea to rival the best Edinburgh has to offer. The G&V Hotel afternoon tea offers traditional homemade fruit and plain scones, Italian deluxe finger sandwiches and Italian delicacies from the pastry chef.

We left before we had anything to eat as there was a group of ladies who had decided to make far too much noise. We could not be seated anywhere else and the Manager said that there was nothing that he could do to keep them quiet as they were enjoying themselves. Apparently the enjoyment of the other diners counted for nothing.

What a find this place was! We were invited to a Christmas event here and decided to try it out first. Such a funky place. The decor was quite unlike anywhere we have been in Edinburgh - very modern with patterns everywhere which I love (kind of Desigual style) - nothing worse than sterile decor. The ambience was great, the food was wonderful (a must try - the milk sorbet with honeycomb) and there was an extensive wine list. And last but not least the staff were so attentive and helpful. The restaurant deserved to be a lot more busy than it was. At the end of a wonderful meal we ventured downstairs to the Epicurean a fabulous new cocktail bar in the hotel lobby. Overall a great night out .

Very relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. Food was delicious and service attentive without being overbearing. Lovely evening.

Refectory table in restaurant is not an acceptable replacement for bar during refurb. Although stating on arrival that table was booked and being in clear sight of restaurant staff this info not passed on by bar staff even asking for menus did not trigger this
We made ourselves known to restaurant staff where the service was excellent and redeemed the evening
1 main course sadly tepid although remedied very smoothly

we ordered a pasta for starter amd it was quite undercooked. wemdo know the difference between speghetti being al dente but ours were still crumchy. we told the staff about it but they just took the dish away with no compensation or anything. for mains we had cod fillet and pork fillet, both were overcooked. on terms of service, staffs were mostly polite but they could be more caeeful such as not spilling things arpund on our table and did not not even wipe it away being a michelin guide restaurant, we expected better service and way better food we are very disappointed and wont recommend coming here.

Booking very straight forward & convenient. Decor lovely very colourful & bright. Service was fine food ok but over priced & small portions. I had mussels which were tasty & good to have gluten free bread but beef cheek was tasty but mash potatos more of a purée & few scattered peas on the plate should have other veg included for the price paid. £8 for a glass of wine bit pricey too.

LOVELY RESTAURANT. GOOD AMBIENCE. STAFF AND SERVICE EXCELLENT. FOOD DELICIOUS. ONLY COMPLAINT WAS WHEN ASKED FOR A GLASS OF PINOT GRIGIO, ADVISED ONLY COMES IN BOTTLES. AS 3 GUESTS WERE DRINKING WHITE, A BOTTLE WAS SUGGESTED. WE WERE NOT ADVISED IF THERE WAS A CHOICE OR NOT AND GOT QUITE A SURPRISE TO BE CHARGED £33 PER BOTTLE X2. PARTLY OUR FAULT AS WE DID NOT ASK TO SEE WINE LIST PRIOR TO AGREEING. STAFF SHOULD GIVE GUESTS OPTION TO CHECK PRICE BEFORE COMMITTING!. ONE OTHER SMALL ISSUE; BOOKED PRE THEATRE MENU, WAS FIRST OF ALL GIVEN A LA CARTE, THEN LUNCH BEFORE RECEIVING PRE THEATRE MENU!

To be honest we were very disappointed. Having enjoyed afternoon tea at various restaurants over the years this was by far the worst. Although the setting was lovely, the sandwiches were tasteless and the service was slow. We had to ask for our tea and was served some very strange flavoured concoctions. The only saving grace was that the scones were very nice.

Friendly, attentive service. Tasty and good variety in fixed price menu. Main courses of salmon and beef cheek the star turns.
