A stone’s throw from picturesque Formby beach, Cross House Inn is a trusty British pub on the outskirts of Liverpool. The pretty exterior is decked with colourful hanging baskets and manicured shrubbery.

Specialising in trusty, home-cooked British recipes, the Cross House Inn menu is made up of time-honoured classics and inventive chef’s specials. The signature beef & ale pie is a creation from much-loved celebrity chef Tom Kerridge, while favourite world flavours include sizzling steak fajitas, or aubergine and roast beetroot curry. Gourmet sandwiches and jacket potatoes are served throughout the day, and guests can round things off with an indulgent crumble, cheesecake or sundae.

The drinks list at the Cross House Inn pub features carefully-chosen beers and international wines, and a lengthy list of soft drinks. Younger diners are not forgotten, with a varied menu for both lunch and dinner, and a mini roast served on Sundays.

Found in an unspoilt area of Merseyside, Cross House near Liverpool is a 10-minute walk from Formby Train Station.

I used to really like it here but my last two visits have left me disappointed. We arrived to be told that there was no booking for us in spite of having received a confirmation e mail, we were told that they go to the manager upstairs and hadn't been brought down. Whilst the waiting on staff are very pleasant the service is slow and disorganised. We were a party of 4, 2 of whom received their drinks reasonably speedily the other two had to wait and remind the staff that we were waiting. When the meals arrived one was wrong, being served with chips rather than the jacket potato ordered, there then ensued another wait. When my Father ordered a second drink after about a ten minute wait we had to remind the waitress about it again. My Mothers lasagne was very greasy looking. We asked for condiments and waited, and waited I had to leave the table and go and ask for them where the staff were standing and chatting.
