From Colchester Oyster Fisheries, diners can indulge in Mersea oysters, enjoyed with a glass of chilled champagne, and there is also fresh lobster. Other hearty favourites include succulent steaks from the grill, and on Sundays there are popular roasts with all the trimmings.
Beautifully presented desserts include chocolate tart, and creamy panna cotta with exotic fruits. Afternoon teas at Courtyard Brasserie Colchester treat diners to a range of freshly baked pastries, scones with jam and clotted cream, and delicate finger sandwiches.

This restaurant is like a relic from the 1970s with dark brown stained tables and chairs. The food was very greasy and one of the main courses was almost inedible

Sadly we decided not to eat in the restaurant. We came early and had a drink. The bar staff were not very friendly one rather surly the other handed my husband change from behind his back while concentrating on the till. There did not seem to be other diners, we didn't feel like being the only ones there. We looked at the menu and was not really inspired by it. Arriving was a bit intimidating the door was surrounded by rather rough looking smokers.

we had to wait half an hour before pots of tea were brought out, a further half an hour until any food arrived and sadly it wasn't worth the wait. The sandwiches were dry and the scones were rock hard. It was not busy during our visit and there appeared to be plenty of staff so not acceptable.

They had no record of our booking through Book a Table. They had stopped all Book a Table reservations weeks ago. They were completely booked up.

This was our second time of visiting The Courtyard. It's such good value for money, food is lovely, unlimited prosecco means just that! but my favourite but is the staff they a fun and friendly and couldn't be more helpful. My niece has an allergy to butter and they offered alternatives without fuss - one waitress even remembered us from last time! Fab place would definitely recommend.
