Sister restaurant of highly acclaimed The Dairy, Counter Culture is a laidback snack bar overlooking Clapham Common. The best of the season’s produce is picked, fermented, cured and bottled, and served alongside meat, fish and vegetables to create delicious, simple snacks.

The Counter Culture menu is short but packed with flavour. Tuck into the likes of sour potato flat bread, with nduja, and cultured cream, beef tartare with bone marrow salad cream and caviar, or lamb kebab with pickled cabbage and a steamed bun. Sweet treats like strawberry and limoncello trifle round off the menu.

An intimate setting, wooden tables sit in view of the open kitchen. Counter Culture’s BYOB policy adds to the relaxed atmosphere, as do the large windows looking out onto the common.

Showcasing the dedication to produce that has seen The Dairy awarded such high praise, Counter Culture Clapham sits seconds from Clapham Common Tube Station.

The restaurant is tiny and very basic is style but the food was great. With a limited menu you get to try everything and surprisingly its all very filling. Coco the person who served us was fantastic, just lively and fun. Overall a great experience.
Worth noting the bathroom is next door (in The Dairy)!

What a little (quite literally) gem of a place. Interesting menu of all sorts of delights, great atmosphere, all rounded off by a rather lovely team behind it all. Great experience all round, we will be back. Thank you

Amazing! Loved the Irish lady who was front of house, she was very friendly and made the whole experience very enjoyable. Loved Bering sat right in front of the chef, he was great at explaining all the dishes and answering all our questions. Favourite dishes were the ox cheek, the leeks - especially the smoked yolk sauce, and the treacle dessert.

I went to Counter Culture with my husband and another couple for a Friday night dinner. This restaurant works best if you just go in a couple – but in saying that, we worked fine at a counter with 4 people. I have to say – the server is one of the nicest people in the world! She made us feel as if we had come into her home and she was hosting us for dinner. All of the dishes were amazing. We had one of each of the menu items, including the special. It is hard to pick a favorite dish but I especially liked the ox cheek and bambi bao.
