Close to Thurstaston beach and Wirral country park, The Cottage Loaf is a cornerstone of the community. This charming building is encircled by preened shrubbery, and the outdoor area is filled with parasol-covered picnic tables.

Specialising in trusty, home-cooked British recipes, the Cottage Loaf menu is made up of time-honoured classics and inventive chef’s specials. The signature beef & ale pie is a creation from much-loved celebrity chef Tom Kerridge, while favourite world flavours include sizzling steak fajitas, or aubergine and roast beetroot curry. Gourmet sandwiches and jacket potatoes are served throughout the day, and guests can round things off with an indulgent crumble, cheesecake or sundae.

The drinks list at the Cottage Loaf pub features carefully-chosen beers and international wines, and a lengthy list of soft drinks. Younger diners are not forgotten, with a varied menu for both lunch and dinner, and a mini roast served on Sundays.

A much-loved pub in Wirral, Cottage Loaf sits 9 miles from central Liverpool.

There were six of us basically for Sunday lunch,it was a good location inthe dining area with a view out of the window. The menu was reasonably priced with an excellent
selection of meals to appeal to all tastes. The service was excellent, and we were promptly shown our reserved table and given immediate attention.the food was very
good and hot, three of us had the loin of pork which was served with abundant vegetables, stuffing ,batter pudding and apple sauce.Others had beef, vegetarian and fish
all of which were enjoyed. We had 2starters and 1 dessert.Unfortunately the coffee machine had broken down.

Very cosy pub with a lovely atmosphere. Food was all lovely apart from the beef on 2 of the roast dinners of the 7 meals ordered- it was very stringy and fatty. The other 5 meals were excellent. We had vouchers for free desserts from completion of a survey after our last visit, again all were excellent.

Food was really tasty BUT the service was shocking. We waited 50mins from ordering to the food being brought to us. Then the three pies that had been ordered were dried up and most had cold chips! Clearly some meals had been left standing waiting for others to be ready. The shift manager did apologise but it did spoil what could have been a fantastic pub meal!
