Since 1987, Chung Ying Garden Birmingham has served superb traditional Cantonese cuisine in the heart of Birmingham’s China Town. Praised by the AA and Which? Good Food Guides, the restaurant is split over 2 floors, and includes a dance floor.

The Chun Ying Garden menu is vast, and offers 400 separate dishes. Included in this is the Dim Sum selection of over 100 options, which contain variations to appeal to European and Chinese tastes. Recognisable favourites like sweet and sour dishes are available, as well as subtler recipes like sizzling fillet of fish in black bean sauce.

A separate menu is also offered at Chun Ying Garden restaurant, specifically crafted for more Chinese diners. Private dining is available, and the dance floor is always a popular draw.

Split into different areas, each stunningly decorated, Chung Ying Garden Birmingham is 8 minutes’ drive from the National Indoor Arena, and 6 minutes’ walk from Birmingham New Street Rail Station.

We arrived late for reservation due to parking, the restaurant was very busy and they seated us straight away. There are pages and pages of different dishes, so took us a few minutes to decide. Our food arrived about 10 mins later it wasn't piping hot but hot enough to eat. The portions of each dish were a lot. The service was good and the staff were pleasant and tuned tables around once guest left very quickly.

Lovely food, generous portions and good service. Front entrance v off putting. Dirty and dingy , suck up the wall. Staff busy pretty big up inside would be better with mop and bucket outside!

Been coming to Chung Ying Garden for 16 years, so it was the obvious choice to celebrate my son's 21st Birthday. Attentive staff, excellent food and perfect location pre theatre.

Used to go often, but haven't been to the Chung Ying Garden for several years. Glad to see that it is as reliably good as it ever was. My friend and I went there for an early pre-show supper. Service was pleasant and punctual. However, looking at the menu, I thought the prices were steep (many of the main dishes were in the range of £10-15 each) and I'm used to London prices! When the food came, it was obvious why - the portions were huge, each platter was more than enough for two. We had a quarter Peking duck with pancakes, which was plenty for two (glad we didn't go for the half!) For mains, we had ordered a meat/fish dish each, some rice and a vegetable dish and it was lovely, but way too much, so we couldn't finish it. The bill, with two bottles of beer and two glasses of wine, came to £67, which I didn't think was good value, especially for an ethnic restaurant and particularly as so much went to waste. The portions are fine if there are several in your group to share, but if there are only two of you and you want to taste more than one dish, I strongly suggest sticking to the set menus.

was recommended to me but i was disappointed ti have to wait 40 minutes to be served, people arriving after us had their starters and ate them whilst we were still waiting; the point of eating at 5pm was to avoid the rush hour and to get to the theatre on time

We have been to this restaurant several times before, however this time we found that the standard of food had gone down considerably. Food was cold and took a long time to come out. Our waiter was very helpful in helping us to choose our dishes.
