Main seemed a little overpriced for what it was. Light meal was good, desserts outstanding. Not sure the honeycomb was necessary, and hard to eat. Would be better broken up and sprinkled over the desert.

Housed in the Chichester Festival Theatre, Minerva Bar & Grill serves modern British cuisine using seasonal, local produce. The Minerva Lounge and Brasserie offer drinks and light bites for pre and post-performance refreshment.

Start with Brighton blue cheese, fig, radicchio, and chicory salad with hazelnut dressing, or smoked mackerel mousse with horseradish crème fraiche and focaccia thins. Mains on the Minerva menu include slow-cooked shoulder of pork with mustard sauce, and Sussex beetroot tatin with goats’ cheese. Lighter options include a Mediterranean meze sharing platter, quiche of the day and a British cheese board.

Desserts at The Minerva Bar & Grill also feature local produce and include Sussex summer berry mess and steamed vanilla sponge with sticky bourbon sauce. Local beers and an extensive drinks list including English sparkling wine are also available.

Open to theatregoers and the general public alike, The Minerva at Chichester Festival Theatre is a short walk from the city centre and a 7-minute drive from Chichester Train Station.

    Excellent pre theatre experience

Friendly staff - quick service leaving plenty of time to get to performance. Very convenientl for pre-theatre meal, main meal - seabream was just OK, our party had x 3 seabream and one lamb which apparently lacked flavour. Deserts were much better. I can appreciate the limitations of feeding a lot of people under pressure of getting everyone out before the performance and therefore did not expect much from the meal. However I think the price should reflect the quality of the food. Would use again for another theatre visit but not for any other reason. I would recommend prior to theatre visit but otherwise not (just to clarify my response underneath).

We didn't think a lot of it, frankly. Staff friendly but seemed to have forgotten our order. Long wait & Hurried meal as a result. One of our choices was pretty ordinary. Wine uninspiring

The menu was rather limited and was full of dishes with ginger. We were not inspired by the choices available. The service was efficient but abrupt and impersonal. It was our worst experience of dining here.

Bream was overlooked and very dry
Lemon posset was spoiled by jam, sorbet and bought meringue
