Housed in the Chichester Festival Theatre, Minerva Bar & Grill serves modern British cuisine using seasonal, local produce. The Minerva Lounge and Brasserie offer drinks and light bites for pre and post-performance refreshment.

Start with Brighton blue cheese, fig, radicchio, and chicory salad with hazelnut dressing, or smoked mackerel mousse with horseradish crème fraiche and focaccia thins. Mains on the Minerva menu include slow-cooked shoulder of pork with mustard sauce, and Sussex beetroot tatin with goats’ cheese. Lighter options include a Mediterranean meze sharing platter, quiche of the day and a British cheese board.

Desserts at The Minerva Bar & Grill also feature local produce and include Sussex summer berry mess and steamed vanilla sponge with sticky bourbon sauce. Local beers and an extensive drinks list including English sparkling wine are also available.

Open to theatregoers and the general public alike, The Minerva at Chichester Festival Theatre is a short walk from the city centre and a 7-minute drive from Chichester Train Station.

Sorry, answered this question, below. The booking by e mail worked well. No problem I opted for the upstairs restaurant as we had had a bad experience in the Brasserie earlier in the year.

We thought the Grill was excellent - delicious steak.

The Brassiere restaurant is well laid out and is a pleasant place to come for a pre-theatre meal, the service is also good. No complaints there. The downside is that the menu is very limited, and the choices have not changed in November, and as we have been to the theatre this month three times, we have found this disappointing. I have had the pheasant twice, (nice) and the fish once (Ok). But, I found the fish selection I had yesterday was over cooked, and I suspect it had been standing under the warmer for sometime. I have had the starter salmon terrain twice (nice first time, ok second). The blue cheese moose once (this was tasty) but would have benefited from more of the decorative toast (only one piece is provided and is tiny), we had to order a portion of bread to share (extra cost). Unlikely to go to this restaurant again for sometime, it is pricy and the menu is limited especially if you go to the theatre often.

it would be good to have a better choice as this time of year I go once a week. Also the measure of prosecco was very small.

Good menu selection: tasty pumpkin soup with just a hint of fennel in the bhaji; the smoked salmon terrine lacked flavour but the apple and blue cheese souflle was delicious, if more of a compressed nature. The plaice could be more highly seasoned and the mushroom/butternut wellington was not encased in pastry, just a floating 'cardboard' on top! The chocolate and carrot cake desserts were delicious.
The service was exceptional, with friendly personable waiting staff.

    Good food, good service

We were greeted and seated pleasantly and efficiently. The young and enthusiastic staff took our drinks order quickly followed by our food order. Our first course arrived almost immediately, which we were pleased about as we were going to the theatre afterwards. Mains were served quickly too with a bit more time between dessert as we were in good time by then. All four of us enjoyed our meals and every commented on how good the food was. I would have liked my pork belly to have been crispy on top, however that is only a little detail. As it was an extremely cold evening, the restaurant could have been a little warmer which would have added to the ambiance which is hard to create in such a big space. Music could add to the ambiance.

We were left standing waiting to be seated for several minutes and once at our table no one came to take our food and drink order for a long time. Once we eventually placed our order the food was delivered promptly.
