Evening - midweek Food was great Meals for individuals in group arrived at different times
(**** 27 April 2012 by Tony from Radlett, Herts
We booked in advance to ensure enough time before a visit to the theatre. The food is usually reliably good, but I ordered a fish dish which arrived smelling distinctly past its sell-by date. I complained to the waiter who grudgingly took it away for the chef to smell; came back and said 'Sorry, would you like something else' - by which time it was too late to order. 'I'll tell the manageress.' Nothing more happened until we paid and left when the manageress said a reluctant 'Sorry' as we passed her. My wife wrote to the Head Office after such dreadful service, but they ignored the letter and did not even have the courtesy to reply.

Fairly conventional London lunch time (1.30pm) but we were able to linger after the meal to chat over tea and NEVER made to feel we should be moving on. Quality of the steak and frites EXCELLENT, as on previous visits, but the side salad quite meagre for the price. One pays for the super-convenient location, though, so the overall bill was a bit higher than anticipated for three people not drinking alcohol.

We arrived at 1pm, after ordering, our food did not arrive until 2:20pm! We had to rush it for our 3pm meeting and the restaurant lost out on Coffee & desserts as we had no time to order. (Despite a 12.5% charge already added to the bill. Despite having a kids menu, the kids drinks arrived in Very tall, unstable glasses that where not suitable for 6/7 year olds. (One got knocked over) The food was very good, but these previous points let our experience down.

Booked early evening before going to theatre. Food and portions were very good but wine alittle expensive.

I had a dinner with my girlfriend at 8.00pm. All staff was incredible courteous and warm. We had three starters, two main course and one dessert. All mails were delicious and very taste. I do not have any complain to do.

Booked a table for dinner before going to the RFH. The service was flexible (one of the party arrived late), [...] and we had a 50% off voucher. Without that the meal would have been expensive for what we had - with the voucher it was good value.

As usual the food at Chez Gerard was magnificent. We enjoyed the escargot, foie gras, rib-eye and chateau briand. Missed the usual olives and french bread. Service was awkward and amateurish on this occasion. The location is excellent for South Bank visits and the restaurant has a pleasant ambiance. [...]

Enjoyed an early evening meal with a friend. Food was beautifully presented, unfussy, tasty, and best of all, hot. Took advantage of the 50% off a la carte menu, which was brilliant, hence the 'excellent' value for money rating above, but even without that the prices are not bad.
