Behind the mock-Tudor exterior of Chapter One hides a stylish, contemporary restaurant, serving a modern European menu of cutting-edge dishes that taste as good as they look.
Well-mentored by Chef Andrew McLeish, the kitchen team understand the importance of high quality and consistency. The sublime presentation prompts many diners to comment on how they can't believe they are eating so well for so little. At prices designed to appeal to diners looking for a regular eating haunt, you could start with the jugged hare, followed by slow roast belly of Rhug Estate organic pork, and finish with pave of valrhona chocolate. All meals can be complemented with French, Italian and New World wines.
As well as its coveted Michelin star, Chapter One is one of 20 restaurants to hold four AA rosettes and it also picked up the 'AA Restaurant of the Year Award' for England in 2004.

I treated my dad to dinner at Chaper One for his 60th birthday. A special evening made even more special by the staff and chef! Thank you.

Had a girly lunch with my mum amd sister to celebrate Mother's day, a day early. Fabulous food as always, but the icing on the cake was the tarte tatin.I can honestly say this was probably the best dessert I have ever eaten. Do try it, it is truly exquisite.

9pm booking. Starters served too quickly, at same time as bread, immdediately after being ordered.

My children booked a table for four to treat us to dinner on the occasion of our wedding anniversary. I was very disappointed with the service. The rocket salad was not washed.I bit on sand. No member of staff came to our table to enquire if we required anything or whether we liked the food. Nobody took any notice of us waiting for our coats to be brought out, so I eventually asked a member of the staff who was chatting to her colleague to bring us our coats. I can only conclude that the lack of attention was due to the fact that we did not drink any wine. My observation was that the staff were bending over themselves serving our neighbouring table, where many bottles of wine were flowing. A very disappointing and disillusioning experience.

We dined on a Friday evening at about 9pm.After a couple of drinks in the bar, our table was ready. Within seconds of sitting down we were looked after, until the moment we left. The food is exquisite. Every mouthful is a dream ! We are so lucky to have such a fabulous restaurant on our doorstep. Am so looking forward to my husbands birthday in March, when we have another excuse to go again.

Booked for a Monday night, several couples there but great night. As we booked for our anniversary, they surprised us with a plate with 'Happy Anniversary!' written in chocolate. Great night!
