Underneath Charing Cross Station, Champagne Charlies is a Davy's traditional ale and port house, featuring an expansive cellar of Davy’s own label house wines and champagne. Cosy and rustic, Champagne Charlies Charing Cross features sawdust covered floors, candlelit tables and intimate alcoves.

In true Olde Worlde style, Davy's Old Wallop real ale is served in pewter tankards or copper jugs. Decanted daily, vintage ports are available by the glass or bottle. The Champagne Charlies dining room serves up hearty British fare and chargrilled dishes, and there is a relaxed bar menu with hot or cold dishes available throughout the day.

Traditional favourites on the Champagne Charlies menu include fish and triple-cooked chips with tartare sauce, bangers and mash with Madeira gravy or wild mushroom risotto with Portobello mushroom,. British artisan cheeses accompany English puddings like treacle tart and custard.

Just off Villiers Street, Champagne Charlies London is found in The Arches shopping centre, near Trafalgar Square.

A fantastic place with wonderful experiences

I've eaten here many times and the service is always first class - just the right amount of attention without being invasive. Food is fairly basic fare, but always of good quality and well presented. One of our group was delayed by almost 45 minutes because of rail disruption, but the restaurant manager took the time and trouble to keep us regularly informed that this would not be a problem - a very nice touch.

I had booked a table to meet a girlfriend to have a bite to eat from your good menu and talk. However it was incredibly busy at 6pm and seriously noisy we would have had to shout at each other. Staff were good and tried to find us a quieter table but it was not possible so we had to leave. There must have been several office parties going on but it was not as we hoped because I have met friends there previously and it has been perfect. So we were disappointed.

Good food, lacking atmosphere on Saturday night. Some background music would be good. More attentive waiting would be good. No offers of sauces or accompaniments, or water. Waiter a bit brusque and didn't write order down and then got the type of steak wrong, though it was a good steak and cooked to our liking.

Really enjoy the atmosphere. Definitely recommend booking in advance, particularly on the weekends. The food is good, and they offer a good deal on pre-theatre set menus. However, be aware that those portions are smaller: a friend was a bit disappointed at the size of her main, though she enjoyed the food.

We both loved the food that we selected, but the waitress (from South Africa) was amazing, fun and very attentive to us.

Generally very good. My only complaint: there was no bread served with the smoked salmon starter. I requested some and was provided with a platter and charged £3.95! I thought bread was normally provided free of charge.
