One of the best meals we've had for quite a while. The dessert, in particular, was outstanding.

Lovely ambience, food wonderful, stunning wines. Let down by disappointing service, e.g. having to ask 4 times for a cranberry juice, and had to ask for desert menu 35 minutes after main course cleared away. Maybe a bit short on staff last night?

We had attentive service without it being obtrusive. The starters were excellent; those who had the codling said it was good but the portions were too small; those who had the pork said it was tough. Indeed I left more than 50% of mine. The vegetables were only OK. The coffee was far too strong.

I have visited Cerise twice in 2 weeks. The first time I bought 12 of my social group (Sandhurst Ladies) for lunch. It was painful and slow at the bar to get pre lunch drinks. The bar man was poorly trained. The food was wonderful, the service was appalling. Our waitress could not speak very good English and did not understand the menu. When asked what was in the fish dish, she said it is "next to" sea bass. We asked if the dishes came with veg and she said no, but of course there is always small garnish of veg or salad. We ordered 2 bottles of wine and 2 glasses of wine. She bought 2 bottles and 2 wine glasses. We waited ages for plates to be cleared and I kept bobbing up and down to find someone. I asked 3 times for the bill. Eventually I walked to the reception desk to pay and refused to pay service. Instead of asking me why and apologising, the girl said, "well I will have to tell my manager." Not a good experience! Last night, I thought I would give you another go and booked your wine dinner for myself and my husband. I was invited to this by email, which said the evening started at 7pm with champagne and canapés in the library. There was a business function in the library and we were seated straight at the table with water. I queried about the promised champagne and canapés and an idiot waiter tried to tell me it would arrive at the end of the meal with an Eton mess "canapé". Please! Someone cocked up and tried to fob us off! I refused the offer and asked for a bottle of champagne to take away as compensation. This was given to me. The rest of the food and wine was lovely. Service was a little slow and the event was poorly attended. Probably through lack of marketing - not a mention of it on your website. Your Front of House Manager - Michael Kaminski - did apologise to me about the lack of champagne reception when we were leaving but I found it distasteful that the other people attending the function were not apologised to or given anything in recompense.

    We came for afternoon tea.
The staff were welcoming and the venue was clean.
We were not very impressed with the cakes and the sandwich fingers were a little dry. I have had better elsewhere.
There was no hot water in the gentlemans toilet for hand washing.

The food was fantastic and exceptionally good value; the dining area had a hotel functional feel to it, rather than being an intimate restaurant venue; the staff could have been more attentive.

The barman made my favourite cocktail, even though it wasn't on the menu. Good start. Our waitress was great - helpful and friendly throughout. The food was lovely.

No where is signposted in the hotel, it is not intuitive were the restaurant is. Warm cosy atmosphere the decor is sort of modern Art Deco. The service was good and the full cream tea looked very tempting but I do wish they hadn't put herbs on some of the cakes, the fennel leaves although delicate did taint the chocolate cake, not horrible, probably too modern for me.
I did object to the quite large extra charge for extra hot water for the teapot and a second coffee, two drinks are needed to help it all go down.
Lastly the ladies facilities were excellent in every detail. Always a bonus.
