The Castle is a homely establishment. We both ordered the fish which resembled a "whale", it was very fresh and cooked to perfection. A light and airy dining and drinking area.

Located close to River Wye is the Castle Inn, a brilliantly refurbished 16th century inn now serving delicious British fare. Guests can choose to dine at the garden, the snug bar or the restaurant.

Specialising in trusty, home-cooked British recipes, the Castle menu is made up of time-honoured classics and inventive chef’s specials. The signature beef & ale pie is a creation from much-loved celebrity chef Tom Kerridge, while favourite world flavours include sizzling steak fajitas, or aubergine and roast beetroot curry. Gourmet sandwiches and jacket potatoes are served throughout the day, and guests can round things off with an indulgent crumble, cheesecake or sundae.

The drinks list at the Castle pub features carefully-chosen beers and international wines, and a lengthy list of soft drinks. Younger diners are not forgotten, with a varied menu for both lunch and dinner, and a mini roast served on Sundays.

A delightful Derbyshire pub with a convivial atmosphere, The Castle Bakewell is a 2-minute drive from the A6 Roundabout.

We arrived at castle inn, said we had reserved a table for four in he name of DAWES. The man behind the bar said no table booked in that name, so I said we had booked on line and that I had the reservation number, he then went and looked at another book and said . Oh it's in this book it has been overlooked, no apology, he just said it will have to be this table, then he said follow me I will have t clean it off. I said is there another table it was right by the door and the door was being used constantly, and it was a freezing cold day, But there wasn't one . I felt really embarrassed because we recommended it to our friends who we took with us for a New Year's Day meal, we are not impressed, Jenny dawes

Lovely welcoming pub, so helpful and very amenable. Our dogs were welcomed with treats and we felt very much at home.

Three of us ate and all the meals were lovely. There was a problem with water supply and they were unable to do coffees.
