This was our first visit and we came with favoured clients we wished to impress. The ambiance, food and service were all we could want for. The set 5 course menu was very varied and challenged our taste buds at every opportunity. A very successful evening.

Awarded a Michelin star in 2015, Carters of Moseley Birmingham has received widespread critical acclaim for its fresh and innovative food. Focusing on light, healthy cooking, seasonal ingredients are brought to life in creative British dishes.

The Carters of Moseley menu is packed with fresh ingredients from local suppliers. Simple but full of flavour and exquisitely presented, dishes include chestnut broth with pheasant dumpling and Wiltshire truffle, Cornish monkfish with leek, white onion and chicken juices, and beef cheek with cauliflower and ale. As well as a classic cheese board, the intriguing warm apple cake with Jersey cream and duck fat caramel is amongst the dessert options.

The restaurant’s interior is simple but sophisticated. Wooden flooring is joined by white walls and leather seating, with modern prints adding a contemporary flourish to the dining room.

In the Moseley area of the city, Carters of Moseley is just a 15-minute drive from Birmingham city centre.

Fantastic food, excellent service with knowledgeable and friendly staff. There is always a lovely atmosphere and we enjoyed our joint birthday celebration very much indeed! See you all in January.

Outstanding service and atmosphere; imaginative, flavour-packed food. We had the eight-course tasting menu and every element had some surprise flavour or texture, but always meaningful for the whole dish. A very coherent but also creative menu. We were pleased to be offered a thoughtful selection of non alcoholic drinks that complemented the food and were no poor relation to the wine.

We had the most fantastic evening. Every course was delicious and inspired. The service was impeccable. The 3 course Tuesday menu is a real bargain and of course it's not just 3 courses - there are so many exciting and surprising extras. Can't wait to go back.

Relaxed atmosphere, superb food, excellent service. The mashed potato and gravy course may sound mundane, but it was so good I'm not sure I will be able to eat it anywhere, ever again

Generally a mixed experience. Fine dining in a 'lock-up' shop was a new experience and the ambience immediately disappinted with the increasingly frequent minimalist decor and overiding music causing everyone to raise their voices into a bit of a racket - even making it difficult to hear what by and large were very assiduous staff. Though aware of the taster menu and its regular changes, and having been called beforehand to check allergies, likes and dislikes, it was disconcerting when head waiter insisted we stick to the precise order for the five course menu, only then at our insistence did the chef relent - seems a bit autocratic!. Otherwise the food was fine and tasty, though not exceptional, but only to be ruined in my case but not my parteners, by the overwhelming St Thoms goats cheese which wasted more of the goat than of a cheese and left me with an after taste still with me several hours later even after a coffee and a couple of whiskies. So overall not the best of experiences and not up to standards of other 'fine' dining' restaurants we've visited.
To add to our discomfort was the discovery on collecting our coats a lighted candle on the floor just beside the coat rack. ?? A health and safety issue.

Food was delicious and interesting, and remarkably good value (as I did the Tuesday £30 deal). the appertizers were great - chicken liver cereal and scallop, dessert was perfect balance of sweetness with fresh granita.

Service was great and very much welcomed the slightly larger glasses of champagne.
