Really lovely gem of a place. Spacious with a lovely garden. Charming with great food. I had the halloumi breakfast and loved it.

Built by the public as an artistic project, Canvas & Cream is a charming community hub in Forest Hill. Combining a café, restaurant, therapy room and art gallery, this quirky, vintage-style hideaway is alive with creativity.

Options such as roasted rabbit loin with blackberry jus, forest mushroom, potato cake and shredded savoy comprise the Canvas & Cream menu, which changes seasonally. Passion fruit daiquiri panna cotta is just one of the tempting puddings, and sinful aperitifs include the gin-based Roseberry Ruin. For lunch, lighter options such as squid with sesame teriyaki and leeks are on offer.

Canvas & Cream in South London boasts a laidback café, serving delights like gluten-free banana bread, and an array of English and American breakfast goods. Wander the art gallery, or treat yourself to a therapy session.

A community-based restaurant complete with garden for summertime dining, Canvas & Cream is just a 1-minute walk from Forest Hill Station.

It was okay. Overpriced for the quality. All 8 dishes were pretty mediocre. Staff was okay.
I strongly object to their 12.5% discretionary tip they add to the bill. That was outrageous!
    Won't be back.

Great to enjoy the patio - needs a coat of white paint though.
You always seem short of staff and sometimes the staff you have are not fluent in English or know the menu. However the chef who was doing stand in waiter service was attentive.
I didn't understand why my burger - no bun, no chips - salad in lieu) cost £12 whilst my friend who chose salmon looked to have better value for less cost (can't remember now how much less).

Delicious food and the waitress was absolutely delightful! A perfect place for brunch.

We had to wait 20 minutes for our drinks to be given to us, and almost an hour for the food - and when it did turn up only three out of the four dishes turned up, so one of our party ended up eating alone when the fourth dish finally arrived. Only when we requested that the service charge be removed from the bill (and we were surprised to see it automatically added given our experience) were we told that they were a chef down. We would've been perfectly happy to wait for our food - as it was a bank holiday Sunday morning so were in no particular hurry - but it would've been nice to be warned that this may happen. It would also have been good for all four dishes to be brought out at the same time.

I love C&C. It's just so fabulous. Food, service, the shabby chic decor, everything! I had birthday brunch yesterday and it wasn't it's usual busy Sunday as the weather was glorious but it was still perfect. In fact I loved it better. The food was excellent and we had a celebratory glass of prosecco at the end of the meal. Highly recommended and inexpensive too which is always a bonus. A fabulous place to go in forest hill.
