A very enjoyable experience, we ordered a variety of tapas in the lunchtime deal and took the decision to include some dishes at an additional charge. The service was attentive without being intrusive and the house rose slipped down effortlessly in the September sun.

Led by a predominantly Spanish team, Cañas y Tapas is one of Spain’s favourite tapas bars, and brings its first restaurant to the UK. Choose from over 40 tapas dishes at this rustic-meets-contemporary restaurant in Islington.

The Cañas y Tapas menu offers the Spanish favourites tortilla and paella, alongside more alternative options like sautéed eggs with a choice of filling. Whether you want a cold San Miguel and a bite to eat, a quiet romantic dinner, or a late night soiree with friends, Cañas y Tapas in London is a diverse tapas restaurant and bar.

The large Cañas y Tapas lounge bar encourages guests to adopt the informal, friendly Spanish way of eating, and there are tables both inside and out. The extensive drinks menu adds a great touch by suggesting which dishes can be paired perfectly with each wine.

With 2-for-1 cocktails a permanent fixture and an in-house DJ and dancefloor later on, Cañas y Tapas restaurant is just a 5-minute walk from Angel Tube Station. Private dining is also available.

We really enjoyed our visit here. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I told them that it was my girlfriend's birthday and they brought out a small desert with candles in, which they didn't charge us for, and they sang "happy birthday" too, which was very nice. The food wasnt amazing but was good and very well priced, as was the wine. I would recommend to others for a good, authentic Spanish meal out.

Average food - there's much better to be hard on upper street for the same sort of price. Service was horrendous, the waitress was really rude and aggressive. First time in a very long time that I have had the service charge removed! Ruined our night!

I thought that it was at a brilliant location, parking was relatively easy as we booked the table in early evening. Our waiter was friendly and he explained how the meals would work as we had never been there before. Would have preferred all the dishes to probably come all together on the table at once, but we managed to eat them and then the next lot came out. The starter was nice as well as the little sausages and paella. Overall it was a nice place to dine in but I have eaten in similar places and their tapas experiences were a little better.

Went for the tapas mania. Amazing selection of food for 1 price would highly recommend. Was told by Andy that at around 10pm they stay open with a dj and we was more than welcome to stay much to our surprise the music and atmosphere was amazing. Was a fantastic night. We had dinner and stayed and partied till late. With 2 4 1 on cocktails all night this was a great night out. Thank you to Andy and all the staff at Canas y tapas. See you soon

To be helpful and clear I want to note my feedback down in different sections.
Service - The service was poor. There were a lot of waiters, rushing around with ear pieces not really seeming to be doing anything. Everything we wanted, we had to flag down. The waitress that talked us through the menu was lovely and very knowledgable but I think she finished shift before we leave. She had a really good energy about her and clearly loved her job. We spent a great deal of time waiting and at the end, waited for 20 minutes for the slates to be cleared.
Food - The food was of below average standard. All dishes appears to be served with an iceberg lettuce salad which was confusing and I doubt authentic. The croquettes were mushy and were out of the freezer. The ham was fatty and poorly sliced. The paella was wet and the seafood overcooked and chewy. Even worse was that the tapa were served on slates. They are impractical, awkward to move and don't add anything to experience.
Ordering - The ordering on the slate actually added time to the process as we were required to run through what we wrote and cross reference with the menu. This took time, so I was unsure of why it was put in place unless it was just a gimmick.

I don't wish to be overly negative but there are so many things that need to be changed at this restaurant. They are surrounded by Spanish restaurants so they need to up their game, as there are easier, nicer and better quality restaurants a stones throw away.
