Proud owner of a coveted AA Rosette, Calistoga Restaurant Edinburgh serves up freshly prepared dishes inspired by the tastes of California. Grill classics are joined by a considered wine list, with wine tastings also held regularly.

Supreme grill dishes lead the Calistoga menu, with the likes of ribeye steak, seared swordfish or chicken and chorizo skewers served with a choice of sauce and sides. Other flavour-packed options include seared duck breast with sweet chilli and lemon sauce, fillet of seabass with miso noodle and beansprout broth, and barbecue pork belly with hand-cut fries and pancetta aioli.

For dessert, savour poached pear crème brûlée with cinnamon shortbread, or the rich dark chocolate and pumpkin seed brownie with pumpkin crème anglaise. The extensive wine list specialises in bottles from Napa Valley, with craft beers and cocktails also available.

Just off George Street, Calistoga sits in the heart of Edinburgh. Find Edinburgh Castle and Waverley rail station both a stone’s throw away.

This was our first visit to this restaurant and it certainly will not be our last. From the minute we walked in until we eventually left, the staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. The atmosphere is cosy, laid back yet comfortable and intimate and the food and service were both superb. Add to this an interesting wine list at reasonable cost and you have a decided winner.

Selection of food and wines very good and reasonably priced. Service was very attentive and friendly. Location is a bit of a let down but surroundings inside are very nice. Would visit again.

We had a lovely meal at Calistoga. The red snapper was especially tasty and the selection of wine was great. The service was really friendly too.

We did a wine tasting before dinner, which was very interesting and professionally done. We can highly recommend it. The same is for the rest. The 3 course dinner was exceptionally delicious, staff is very friendly. We very much enjoyed our stay at Calistoga and will definately go there again.

Enjoyed the night out at Calistoga. Overall happy with the food and wine - although fries quite salted for our taste. There was a problem with the lighting at our table but the waiter did help to minimize this when asked to bring some additional candles.

This was our first visit to Calistoga and hopefully it won't be our last. The staff were pleasant and helpful without being intrusive. We all enjoyed our meal and the choice and food were different and delicious. My husband is not a salad fan but his favourite dish was the salad starter! Thank you all.
