From the owners of 2 AA Rosette-winning Caldesi in Campagna, Caffe Caldesi brings little-known Italian recipes to London. A bright and breezy dining room is offset by relaxed al fresco dining out on the cobbled pavement.

Bringing lovingly crafted, homemade Italian delicacies to London since 2002, family-run Caffe Caldesi London prides itself on authenticity and tradition. As well as homemade pasta freshly rolled by the Tuscan chef, Caldesi menu favourites include Roman-style slow-cooked chicken thighs, or succulent beef medallions with green peppercorns and sautéed broccoli.

As well as an impressive wine stock and a lengthy list of rich Italian coffee blends, Caffe Caldesi Marylebone offers luxurious Italian desserts. Enjoy orange panna cotta with almond tuile, or rich and gooey flourless chocolate cake.

A failsafe family favourite, the Caldesi restaurant dining room is filled with soft murals and bistro-style furnishings, whilst expansive sash windows bathe the restaurant in natural light. Bond Street Tube Station is a 6-minute walk away.

This is really sad, because we have dined at Cafe Caldesi several times, my wife has been to the cookery school, and we've met Katie and Giancarlo, so we feel a sense of loyalty. However..

This evening was pretty disastrous. Arrived on time, and seated. Offered water, but nobody asked if we wanted an aperitif. First course was nice, but the second took over an hour to arrive and was the wrong order. Eventually, we did get food but by then, frankly, we'd been there nearly two hours and didn't much care. The "pre-dolci" little course was forgotten altogether!

Food here in the past has been superb. This was just OK. My wife had tried the duck ragu in the past (had been amazing, flavoursome, rich, delicious) and was really looking forward to it. This time it was bland and not identifiable as duck at all. Not very nice.

By the end our waiter seemed embarrassed to speak to us so we were pretty much ignored. Weren't offered a coffee - but we'd run out of time anyway.

Final insult, we were charged for the whole fixed price meal, even though we'd run out of time and couldn't finish...

There are too many great restaurants in London for this to be acceptable.

Excellent food, excellent service. Evening spoiled by extremely noisy party of 10 people seated next to us.

We ate upstairs in the restaurant. Food was lovely, atmosphere warm and relaxed and the service was spot on. I will definitely return...

Excellent food. Particularly liked the beetroot ravioli and the inspired combo of sage, pumpkin and Amaretto. Calves liver remains for me the best ever tasted anywhere.

Great dining experience. Excellent service. Booked a table 'upstairs' - a more formal setting.. downstairs would have been more than fine as well. Very attentive service, great atmosphere and lovely setting.
