One of Edinburgh’s best-kept secrets, Café St Honore sits nestled on a charming cobbled street in Edinburgh’s New Town. An Art Deco-style dining room features glitzy mirrors and glossy black and white floor tiling.

Serving the very best Scottish produce in an authentically Parisian bistro interior, the Café St Honore menu offers an eclectic, daily-changing selection. Delicately crafted mains incorporate subtle Scottish accents, like organic Scotch beef bourguignon and mash, whole grilled sardines, coq au vin made with organic Perthshire chickens, and local cheeses with home-made oatcakes and chutney. A tempting cafe classics menu is also served.

As well as crowd-pleasing blends, the wine list Café St Honore restaurant offers a host of bespoke blends for the wine enthusiast. For a graceful conclusion, tempting desserts are served alongside artisan coffee and dainty petit fours.

Recognised by the Sustainable Restaurant Association since 2009, Cafe St Honoré in Edinburgh was awarded 3-star champion status in 2012. Edinburgh Rail Station is 10 minutes' walk away.

A great little gem of a restaurant. Amazing food and lovely atmosphere

The restaurant was deserted on a Thursday lunchtime - for a while we were the only two people there. The menu was appealing and the food was good enough to go back but not sensational.

It was our second visit overall and it is important to ignore the 16 dustbins which are arranged on the left-hand side of the small street leading to the restaurant. Inside it is an intimate experience, in the French style. Tables are quite near to each other and the chairs are simple (hard) bentwoods. Service is very pleasant and helpful. The set menu was starting to run out, so we used a la carte and each had an excellent confit de canard. Ingredients are sourced locally and of good quality. The wines that we bought by the glass were very good. We had different desserts - the chocolate tart was good. The marmalade sponge needs more sauce to avoid dryness. Concluding with good Americano decaffs with hot milk the whole meal was most enjoyable: tota l coat including 10% service was £77 - decent value for the quality.

Enjoyable enough meal, no nasties, just a bit expensive, menus limited.

Overall we were disappointed. The stater of Lang ousting was poor value. The Langoustines were really small and not well cooked. The mains of minute steak were pretty tough.

The menu was not as good as it has been in the past. Nonetheless the food was excellent: beef blade. But a cheap cut perhaps over priced.

    Great wine list, as always.

Excellent food and wine in remarkable setting! We found the restaurant through a friend and decided to try Sunday lunch; the set meal looked good so we decided to try was beautiful and after 3 courses and 2 incredible expresso's we set off for a walk, with the decision made that we would definitely be back!

Authentic back-street-bistro atmosphere, complemented by the no-fuss menus and wine list. The freshly baked house bread was just one of the highlights of a lovely lunchtime experience. The express lunch choices were a perfect subset of the á la carte menu, while the understated ambience all struck the right note.
