Service was as always very friendly and helpful. Steak Frite was perfectly cooked so was the duck and the beef bourguignon dessert for the ones who had it delicious cannot fault any of it.

With outside seating and a private garden, this Café Rouge French restaurant is set in the market place of the characteristic town of Wokingham.

As part of the nationwide group of Café Rouge restaurants, this branch offers their range of classic French dishes such as deep-fried camembert, baguettes, steak frites and mussels. There are also lighter dishes if you don't have much time to spare. The set menus for lunch and dinner (on certain days) are excellent value for money. There is also a good range of French wines, many from less well known producers.

In true French style, breakfast is also an important meal at Café Rouge. With croissants, pain au chocolat, omelettes and croques, as well as hot chocolate, tea and all types of coffees, it makes a great start to the day.

With easy access from the main roads and train station, Café Rouge Wokingham is a convenient restaurant in which to enjoy affordable French cuisine.

Disappointed. Table booked early evening. Almost empty. Yet delivery of food took a very long time. Guests had to remind waiters about side salad, not once but twice. I had Eton Mess for dessert. One of my favourites. Desserts took ages to arrive. Eton Mess seemed to be made from a cheap fruit yoghurt (watery ) with blueberries. Really disappointing.

Staff were friendly and efficient, and the Rouge Burgers were tasty and nicely presented.
I did feel a bit chilly sitting by the window although there was no obvious draught.
The glass of champagne for "mums" was a lovely touch and I really appreciated that!

A good night out. Excellent waitress service and good food. One starter, the mushrooms, could have been hotter but, overall, very acceptable.

However disappointed at the lack of vegetarian options

The dining experience was fine. It was my birthday and we had the free bottle of wine. My only problem with this is that I feel that as I am a regular customer and the wine was a present we should have been allowed to use our discount vouchers as well.

Took advantage of the 40% off main courses deal on the new menu. Our local Cafe Rouge is by the Oracle in Reading which we have been to previously but has no character and is just another plastic restaurant on the Riverside. The Wokingham branch however is completely different being in an old pub with low beams etc. and gives you a French feel. The service was first class and can certainly recommend the Croquettes De Canard (Duck Croquettes) and Ragout D'escargois (Snail and Mushroom Pie) both of these starters were very good. What drew us back to Café Rouge were the Moules (Mussels) as a main. Whist the quantity was there the cream, garlic and wine broth was so salty that it spoilt the dish. I would return but would avoid the mussels although they are my favourite dish which would be a disappointment.
