Requested window table and was given it. Attentive service and delicious food on the two courses for 12:99 menu. We love that as portions just right. Can highly recommend fish soup, pea and bean croquettes, steak and demi poussin.

Set on a corner of the High Street, Café Rouge Wimbledon is a French restaurant with pavement dining, only a very short walk from South Wimbledon Tube stop.

As part of the nationwide Café Rouge group, this restaurant serves their signature range of French cuisine including dishes like steak frites, confit duck, poulet Breton, beef bourguignon and mussels. For a lighter bite there are also smaller dishes available. Offering particularly good value for money are the lunch and dinner set menus (available most days). As for drinks, you can choose from the range of French wines, many from lesser known producers.

In addition to being popular choices for lunch and dinner, Café Rouge restaurants also do breakfast. With croques, omelettes and pain au chocolat, as well as hot chocolate, tea and several coffee options, it makes a great start to the day.

Even though the Wimbledon Café Rouge does not look huge from the outside, it is surprisingly spacious and can easily accommodate groups, making it a good choice for a celebration.

It was great. The staff were very friendly and the food was excellent. The only issue was that after placing our order we were offered bread and/or olives to go with the meal. It wasn't made clear that these were not complementary, which cost us an extra £5.50 we otherwise wouldn't have spent.

We visited on a Thursday evening to celebrate my daughter's 18th birthday and I emailed in advance to ask if they could make a small cake and some champagne cocktails but received no reply; when I rang to enquire the answer was to bring own cake and purchase cocktails from the drinks menu.We were met by a very surly waitress who sat us at the back of the restaurant.Considering it was quiet,it took time for the orders to be taken. Most of our group wanted well done steaks which had to be returned as they were not cooked through. The waitress did not ask if we were ready for our cake to be served but lit the candles and brought it to the table when some of our group were not at the table.Overall experience was spoit by the service which could have made the celebration a disaster but we did not let it hamper our evening;meal itself which was the 3 course dinner was over-priced.

Disappointing that the Mussels and Rouge Burger were not available....therefore the Fixed price menu had restricted choice :(((((((((((

Great venue, staff are always so friendly and we never feel rushed. Food as always was excellent - the sea bass was amazing.

Had the Christmas menu again as dined here last week also. Was looking forward to the Whisky creme brûlée again as was lovely the first time.we were served plain vanilla brûlée with the chef insisting it was the whisky version. The flavour of mild vanilla cannot overpower a whisky aftertaste. They did not replace but the attentive hostess gave us some free drinks. If they had merely run out then simply say so, but do not lie. 2 people unable to taste any form of alcohol in the brûlée are not mistaken. The inconsistencies with the food will make me hesitant to continue dining here. Last week they missed an item from the meal that was shown on the menu and we had to request it. Wake up Cafe Rouge. Yet they still insisted if we would like to pay service by cash or card, a tad bold?!
