A stone's throw from both the Lyceum and Aldwych theatres, Café Rouge Wellington Street serves authentic French food in a prime London location.

Part of the UK-wide group of Café Rouge restaurants, a range of traditional French dishes such as steak frites, confit duck and beef bourgignon are on offer. Amongst the tempting lighter bites, try a tasty croque monsieur, breaded camembert with cranberry and redcurrant sauce, or a classic caesar salad. A good selection of French wines, many from lesser known producers, is on hand to accompany the dishes.

Breakfast at Café Rouge is also a classically French affair. Offering croissants, pain au chocolat and baguettes, as well as hot chocolate, tea and an array of coffees, it makes a great start to the day.

A popular choice for pre or post-theatre dining, Covent Garden Café Rouge also boasts outdoor seating which provides the perfect spot to watch the world go by.

My friend and I were really disappointed. The food took almost an hour to come, mine was cold and one partnof the meal was missing. We won't go again.

Reasonably priced Prosecco accompanied delicious huge fish cake and tasty Camembert burger. Salads were fresh and frites hot n crispy. Can't beat tarte au citron and truffles with decent coffee to finish. Excellent attentive service received as well!

In brief, we were delighted with our restaurant. We were shown to a table as soon as we got there, even though we were nearly 2 hours early!

Service was prompt and polite. The food was fine, not brilliant but since I used my Tesco club card it was satisfactory. However, if I had had to pay £50 I wouldn't have been happy. The food was just about hot enough, I thought about sending it back but couldn't be bothered. I like food to be hot. Also the green beans were a bit hard as was the potatoe. I've had similar experiences at other outlets. If you want business to pick up you need to improve , I don't think just ok is really good enough. I'm not sure I'd bother again.

Warm reception making us feel welcome. Relatively secluded table. Swift drinks service. Excellent food beautifully presented. Three courses, coffee and drinks £100.

Very pleasant restaurant. Good selection on the menu. Service was good as we arrived at 4.30pm before it got busy. From 5.30pm onwards service was slower as the restaurant was virtually full, although was still quite acceptable. The mulled wine was to be recommended and the main course was well presented and hot.
All in all a good experience for a three course meal before going on to the theatre.
