Within the Sheffield Meadowhall shopping centre, Café Rouge is handy for shoppers to grab some delicious French cuisine. An al fresco dining area creates the perfect place to dine outside Café Rouge.

As part of the nationwide chain of Café Rouge restaurants, this branch offers their range of classic French dishes such as confit duck, beef bourguignon, steak frites and mussels. Smaller dishes are also on offer for a lighter bite. Particularly good value for money are the set menus for lunch and dinner (available most days). To accompany the food there is also a good range of French wines, many from less well known producers.

In true French style, breakfast is also an important meal at Café Rouge. With croissants, pain au chocolat, omelettes and croques, as well as hot chocolate, tea and all types of coffees, it makes a great start to the day.

Café Rouge Meadowhall offers traditional French dining in a cosy, welcoming setting.

Dined at around 7pm on Thursday before Christmas. Restaurant very quiet and three or four staff in attendance. Ordered olives for a starter but they never arrived and no explanation given. Main courses took an hour to arrive, again no apology given. The minute steak was actually very good and my partner's salmon fishcakes were a good size and very nice. Service was friendly but not particularly attentive to our needs or very observant of the fact that we'd been waiting for food for some time. I had one bottle of beer but wasn't offered another even when my partner ordered another glass of wine. Slightly disappointing experience.

Arrived at 13:00, food (Quick lunch time menu)booked at 13:10 but did not arrive until 14:00 after we had had to ask where it was. Waitress apologised for delay (no reason given) other than to say it was a problem today for everyone. After this wait, we did not order dessert or coffee just left and went elsewhere. Most customers were waiting for a long time and several were disgruntled by the service - I would not return here

We dined at approx 12.25 it took 2 hrs to get a 2 serving meal. No apology for the long wait and when we asked for the bill I asked what was the problem and the manager said that there was no issues and the starters didn't have enough bread with the starters, and the mains were cold when we received them. The worst I have had at any of the chains cafe's.

We dined around 5.30 pm and the restaurant was empty. The service from the staff was very good and we waited in anticipation. Our starters arrived and although small were very good. The main meals arrived, the lamb which I requested be medium rare was cremated and almost black and the so tough the cutlery could not cope. My husbands Coq Au Vin looked dreadful but he said it tasted ok. Neither meal had much in the way of vegetables, mine had a scraping of swede mash, his the same of potatoes, and 2 roasted spring onions. We did not stop for dessert. The cost of my meal was removed from the bill, but it would still take a lot for me to go for another meal here.

Most of food was ok but bouilabaise was vile. We used Tesco vouchers but was still expensive for what you got

We ate at 8.30pm. The service was really friendly and quick. Great choice on the menu. The desserts were awesome.

Dined at 5:30 Saturday night pre Arena show. Waitress said 2 of the 5 steak options were off. Nevermind, the 1 we both wanted was on so we ordered starters and bread. Slow to bring starters so I asked for bread to be brought out-why did I need to ask? Waitress returned saying only 1 of the steaks left so my wife chose an alternative steak; 15 minutes later she returned saying sorry, they'd also run out of the 1 steak she'd said they had left.So we both ended up with second choice of steak. When they arrived my sirolin was fatty & gristly, the side of braised carrots were almost cold and almost raw.No time left to reject it. We complained & asked for explanation which manager apologised for & waived the entire bill. As a result I will give it a second chance in the future.

Dined early evening 7pm, restaurant lacked atmosphere. Food was good quality warm rather than hot though!
