Around the corner from the historic Oxford University, Café Rouge serves a fantastic range of French dishes in an authentic setting. Cafe Rouge Oxford also boasts a private garden and an al fresco dining area.

As part of the nationwide group of Café Rouge restaurants, this branch offers their range of classic French dishes such as confit duck, beef bourguignon, steak frites and mussels. Smaller dishes are also on offer for a lighter bite. Particularly good value for money are the set menus for lunch and dinner (available most days). To accompany the food there is also a good range of French wines, many from less well known producers.

In true French style, breakfast is also an important meal at Café Rouge. With croissants, pain au chocolat, omelettes and croques, as well as hot chocolate, tea and all types of coffees, it makes a great start to the day.

Set in a traditional red brick building, Café Rouge – Oxford is an 8-minute walk from Oxford Train Station.

Lovely location, nice ambience, very friendly and helpful staff. My food a bit of a let down, pork was overcooked, and breadcrumbs were unseasoned and greasy.

The ambience was good and the service attentive and it was very good value. My friend is very particular about her food and she enjoyed the salmon meal very much. That is praise indeed! My chicken was also very good.

I love the ambience of Café Rouge. The coffee is great and so it the orange juice. Weeks before we had some wonderful soft croissants but our latest visit to the Oxford Café Rouge was a disappointment. Three of us has salmon in our dish and it was all bitty and smoky, my poached eggs were hard as was one of my companions who also had an eggs benedict dish. I would still go back, but I would point out the issues we had before ordering.

Staff were very welcoming, the atmosphere was very nice and, most importantly, the food was excellent.
As ever, I find the beer choices in this type of restaurant very limiting - it's disappointing, but it's common.
The kids menu had a bit more imagination and choice (for the mains and desserts - opposite was true for starter) than in some places.

We really enjoy this chain of restaurants and the food in Oxford was as good as usual. A small misunderstanding over the first dish was resolved and the rest was OK. The owner had her family in the Resturant and although it is nice to have children in the room their conversation was loud and intrusive
