Cafe Rouge Maidstone brings authentic French favourites to the picturesque town centre. Much-loved for its continental cuisine, Café Rouge has been a firm family favourite since 1989.

As part of the nationwide group of Café Rouge restaurants, this branch offers classic French dishes such as confit duck, beef bourguignon, steak frites and mussels. Smaller dishes also offer for a lighter bite. Particularly good value for money are the set menus for lunch and dinner (available most days). To accompany the food there is also a good range of French wines, many from less well known producers.

In true French style, breakfast is an important meal at Café Rouge Maidstone. With croissants, pain au chocolat, omelettes and croques, as well as hot chocolate, tea and all types of coffees, it makes a great start to the day.

A cosy setting filled with brasserie-style furnishings and elaborate French artwork, Café Rouge restaurant is 8 minutes’ walk from Maidstone East Rail Station.

Great starter and good service but dull after that. Over priced.

The sea bass and the haddock main courses were excellent, but the desserts were not great. The Eaton Mess, nothing like it should be and the crepe in a basket? again not a crepe! Suggest the chef goes back to the recipe book for these.

The food was lovely as usual, however my Sons steak was a little over done. The Waiter is polite and helpful. sometimes waited a little to long for food but was busy.

Was a lovely restaurant and we had lovely, well cooked and presented food. Even as a party of 6 it all came out together and all nice and warm still.

I did find that the other half of the restaurant seemed to have nicer features/decor and more ambiance with the type of lighting etc but it wasn't anything to put us off our evening.

    Friendly staff too.

Unfortunately my hubby and I was not very impressed. The room was noisy, couldnt enjoy the music as was unheard over the noise by other "guests" of the restaurant.
We took advantage of the cheaper option menu advertised on the Internet (2 courses for £12.95) The starter was ok ish but the main course was basicly chicken and chips with greenery placed under to make you think it was "special". The house wine was expensive so we, as a couple that like to dine out fairly frequently, hoped that this restaurant would provide us with a alternative option to some other retaurants we currently use ,Dissapointing.

Everything was just delicious. The slow-cooked beef was amazing. Highly recommended!

Lovely mains Poulet le Breton - tasty, good winter warmer, would def have again, my friends had the Beef Bourginon & Canard and highly rated theirs too. We had a cheerful Spanish waiter & the peach cider went down well! We'll be back!
