The dishes often don't quite match the menu e.g. the salmon disk I had. Nice ambiance and friendly staff. We will go back.

With a realistic Parisian atmosphere, Café Rouge Loughton serves an authentic menu of French dishes. Enjoy the French cuisine in the al fresco dining area or in the private garden.

As part of the nationwide group of Café Rouge restaurants, this branch offers their range of classic French dishes such as confit duck, beef bourguignon, steak frites and mussels. Smaller dishes are also on offer for a lighter bite. Particularly good value for money are the set menus for lunch and dinner (available most days). To accompany the food there is also a good range of French wines, many from less well known producers.

In true French style, breakfast is also an important meal at Café Rouge. With croissants, pain au chocolat, omelettes and croques, as well as hot chocolate, tea and all types of coffees, it makes a great start to the day.

With its red exterior setting it apart from nearby shops, Café Rouge – Loughton is an 8-minute walk from Loughton Tube Station.

We went for breakfast with the family, we also went the week before. Sadly both times there weren't enough pastries - no almond croissant and then not enough pain au chocolate. The first week I had three pieces of bacon with our pancakes, yesterday we only got two. Plates were cold which makes breakfast cold - my husbands eggs were cold. We didn't say anything as we didn't want to have to wait. Drinks are always lukewarm. Service was great the first week, yesterday was ok. We do love Cafe Rouge so will continue to go there and with a few tweaks it can be lovely.

The only negative part of the experience was the high noise level.
With regard to service - it was rather slower than I would have liked BUT the person serving us seemed to have far too much to do. In spite of being over-worked, she was very pleasant.

My booking was specifically for the Festive Menu and it was disappointing to find that the restaurant was unable to offer the full selection. The staff were apologetic, and seemed to indicate that I should have booked the actual dishes we required. However there was not any facility to do this on the booking websire.

We enjoyed our evening to celebrate birthdays but not enough staff so service very slow. Need to change menu more often.

Lovely food, great ambience and good service, we had a voucher which made it really good value

We dined at lunch time, very good menu choices. Our server was excellent and allowed us plenty of time to decide which dishes we would choose. The volume of noise from other diners is increased by the high ceilings and this can make conversation difficult. The meal was very pleasant.

Great catch up lunch with a friend who also enjoys Café Rouge restaurants but hadn't visited Loughton before. He felt that it compares very well with other locations, a sentiment I share. We enjoy the fishcake and duck dishes and our favourite desserts of fondant au chocolat and the banana crepe. I was able to use my Gourmet Society card which helped towards the bill. There is a very good team working in this branch + duty manager. It is a popular and often busy restaurant but the staff always manage to be friendly and professional.
