We enjoyed the Prix Fixe menu for £12.95 very much. Quite limited choices,as you'd expect, but my wife and I both found items we enjoyed.

In the contemporary Liverpool One shopping centre, Café Rouge serves an array of traditional French dishes. With a floor-to-ceiling glass frontage and al fresco terrace, there are striking views of Chavasse Park.

As part of the nationwide group of Café Rouge restaurants, this branch offers their range of classic French dishes such as confit duck, beef bourguignon, steak frites and mussels. Smaller dishes are also on offer for a lighter bite. Particularly good value for money are the set menus for lunch and dinner (available most days). To accompany the food there is also a good range of French wines, many from less well known producers.

In true French style, breakfast is also an important meal at Café Rouge. With croissants, pain au chocolat, omelettes and croques, as well as hot chocolate, tea and all types of coffees, it makes a great start to the day.

Café Rouge has a warm and friendly atmosphere reminiscent of a Parisian brasserie.

How can a restaurant have no house white wine or saavignon blanc?!! Waited 1hr 20 mins for our main courses. Dishes stayed on table forever, had to ask for them to be cleared. We will not be returning. They need some training on how you wait on!

This is the best Cafe Rouge anywhere, we believe! Staff are courteous and witty; layout is busy but not cluttered, and food is excellent in taste and presentation. We asked for a table by a wall or in a corner as one of us is hard of hearing, and they found us a perfect place without any problem at all.

The experience was not entirely pleasant! We waited over an hour and a half for our food! Our waitress was very apologetic and eventually the manager came over but didn't apologise!? She offered us more drinks which we didn't need so she took the first round off the bill which was appreciated! But her attitude was not great and she did not apologise! When the food eventually arrived it was Luke warm! We didn't complain as we were starving, with it being lunch and by this time it was after 2.30pm and we had kids with us! Unfortunately very dissapointing! The restaurant was nice and had a nice atmosphere.

As a couple, we often eat at Cafe Rouge but we found our experience in Liverpool to be very disappointing. When we were initially seated we were not offered a drink while we ordered and it took a good fifteen minutes before a waitress noticed this. When the food arrived my husband's starters were good but the service between this and the main was far too long. As I hadn't eaten a starter, I was really hungry when the mains finally did appear. We then asked for a second drink which then didn't come and we had to ask again for it. To top it off the evening, I ordered a creme brûlée and not only was the top so burnt it was inedible but the underneath was stone cold.

We had so looked forward to this evening and we were both left thoroughly disappointed and begrudged paying for the meal because of the poor service. We will not be returning to Cafe Rouge- Liverpool 1.
