In the historical city of Exeter, a flavour of France can be found at Café Rouge. Café Rouge Exeter boasts a vast number of seats as well as a vibrant al fresco dining area.

As part of the nationwide group of Café Rouge restaurants, this branch offers their range of classic French dishes such as confit duck, beef bourguignon, steak frites and mussels. Smaller dishes are also on offer for a lighter bite. Particularly good value for money are the set menus for lunch and dinner (available most days). To accompany the food there is also a good range of French wines, many from less well known producers.

In true French style, breakfast is also an important meal at Café Rouge. With croissants, pain au chocolat, omelettes and croques, as well as hot chocolate, tea and all types of coffees, it makes a great start to the day.

Whilst the exterior is modern in appearance, the interior embodies an authentic French ambience. Cafe Rouge - Exeter is within walking distance of Exeter Cathedral and high street shops.

Really good experience. Booked on line - worked well. Restaurant was well placed for car parking. Food and service was excellent, and there was a lively " buzz " in the restaurant which we really like. No problems in recommending this venue to anyone. We have found that this high standard is consistent across the Cafe Rouge chain of restaurants. Prices are creeping up, ( as they are everywhere ), but we cashed in some Tesco Clubcard vouchers and using their fantastic boost offer did really well.

We were greeted and welcomed and seated to our table with drinks. Our dining experience was disappointing because our food was presented to us Luke warm we had to send both dishes back my partners twice. However, the manager took the price of one meal off our bill . I can't say we will be back, but being a French restaurant they are presenting cuisine not to a high standard. I live by the sea and just love seafood and my experience of seafood that was served to us was not great. I'm going to give the food score a 5. And the staff a score 9.

    Nice evening & nice meal.

We had steak and chips. The chips were just about warm, but only just, as was the steak which was as thin as a wisp and about as tasty ie it wasn't. The house salad consisted of green leaves and radishes.
Decision made to never ever frequent Cafe Rouge anywhere again or any restaurant chain where food is rolled out with no care at all. Give me an individual restaurant with a passionate chef - even a greasy spoon is better than this rubbish.

The restaurant was very quiet, but the service was incredibly slow. Have eaten there a number of times before but have noticed a deterioration in the standard of service. Given that there are plenty of other restaurants in the area, I think that it is unlikely that we shall be returning
