Excellent restaurant. Nice layout and decor. Music was not too loud. Had the best steak I have ever had with their lovely Roquefort sauce. My partner had the beautiful Bœuf bourguignon.

In Edinburgh city centre, Café Rouge is housed in a grand building and offers a charming French dining experience. There is a popular outside seating area for al fresco dining.

As part of the nationwide group of Café Rouge restaurants, this branch offers their range of classic French dishes such as confit duck, beef bourguignon, steak frites and mussels. Smaller dishes are also on offer for a lighter bite. Particularly good value for money are the set menus for lunch and dinner (available most days). To accompany the food there is also a good range of French wines, many from less well known producers.

In true French style, breakfast is also an important meal at Café Rouge. With croissants, pain au chocolat, omelettes and croques, as well as hot chocolate, tea and all types of coffees, it makes a great start to the day.

The Scottish National Portrait Gallery and Princess Street Gardens are within easy reach of Café Rouge in Edinburgh. Edinburgh Rail Station is a 12-minute walk away.

Very disappointed. On arrival told that the two courses for £10.95 was only a trial.. and wasn't available even though it was booked as that deal on bookable. Daughters meal very bland and no flavour. Mine and my other family's meal very nice.. waitress very helpful.. nice atmosphere..

Lovely meal but the restaurant did not seem to be aware of the deal, 2 courses for £10.95 but they did sort it out after a little discussion with the managed.

Helpful service and good atmosphere. Food was well up to expectations with a good range of choice for the 6 people. Risotto very Good.

Strange booking method included making a five pounds per person deposit on line to confirm....never had this via Bookatable. Service was very slow and lacked personal touch. Food good but got cold quickly. Errors on final bill made it a poor experience all round. Not what I expected from Cafe Rouge, especially in a vibrant city like Edinburgh.
