Chelmsford Café Rouge serves delicious bistro-style French cuisine in a warm and inviting atmosphere. There is also an outside seating area and Chelmsford Rail Station is a 9-minute walk away.

As part of the nationwide group of Café Rouge restaurants, this branch offers their range of classic French dishes such as confit duck, beef bourguignon, steak frites and mussels. Smaller dishes are also on offer for a lighter bite. Particularly good value for money are the set menus for lunch and dinner (available most days). To accompany the food there is also a good range of French wines, many from less well known producers.

In true French style, breakfast is also an important meal at Café Rouge. With croissants, pain au chocolat, omelettes and croques, as well as hot chocolate, tea and all types of coffees, it makes a great start to the day.

Close to the town centre, Café Rouge is within a 10-minute walk of Chelmsford Central Park.

    Great Booking service.
    Lovely food.
At end of the meal there was quite a discussion with the waitress who claimed we owed more money than I passed her - she had to calculate the bill several times before realising that in fact she owed me nearly £10 rather than my owing her - which she was insisting on from the beginning. Didn't leave me with the best feeling when leaving the restaurant after a lovely meal.

Lovely food and service, the duck my daughter had was particularly delicious. Thank you for making it Christmassy with crackers and your lovely decorations in the restaurant. Food came out very quickly, little gaps between courses might aid digestion but no complaints. Thank you

Staff were all excellent, as was the food it was the first time we have had the Beef Burgeons at Cafe Rouge (very tasty) the amount of meat on our two dishes was very unequal but we shared it out between us rather then complain and it was fine.

Lovely atmosphere and the service was excellent. It WA my husbands birthday and when the staff were made aware they made it very special

The staff were very friendly and the service was good. The restaurant might like to keep more than one bottle of Worcestershire sauce in stock.....since there was only a dribble left in the bottle we were given. However, a member of staff went to the local supermarket to buy another one! The beef bourguignon was lovely but the salmon and haddock fish cake was very dry and overcooked. I left most of it.
