We were made very welcome, and during our lunch were asked if all was ok. It definitely was, and I would not hesitate to dine there
again. Very friendly staff looked after us. All in all a very pleasant lunchtime.

In a glorious red stone fronted building, Café Rouge Bury St. Edmunds offers authentic French cuisine. A spacious dining room awaits guests, as well as a large courtyard for al fresco dining during the warmer months.

As part of the nationwide group of Café Rouge restaurants, this branch offers their range of classic French dishes such as confit duck, beef bourguignon, steak frites and mussels. Smaller dishes are also on offer for a lighter bite. Particularly good value for money are the set menus for lunch and dinner (available most days). To accompany the food there is also a good range of French wines, many from less well known producers.

In true French style, breakfast is also an important meal at Café Rouge. With croissants, pain au chocolat, omelettes and croques, as well as hot chocolate, tea and all types of coffees, it makes a great start to the day.

Within walking distance of Bury St. Edmunds Train Station, Café Rouge offers authentic French cuisine at an affordable price.

We arrived on time and there were diners on only two other tables. One of these couples left within ten minutes and no new diners came in. We waited fifteen minutes for our starter to arrive, and fifty minutes later had not received our main course. We had to leave for a cinema appointment, and to be fair, when we explained the situation, were not charged at all for the two drinks and two starters. But this our second bad experience here out of only two visits, so will not bother again. The windo sills adjacent our table were dusty and one had what suspiciously like a mouse dropping on it.

Was greeted at the door and taken straight to our table. The service was excellent as was our waiter who spent time talking to us. The mussels and fritos were perfect plenty in the pot and the liquor was lovely too. One comment it would have been nice to have had maybe a couple of slices of baguette to soak up the liquor. My sister-in-law that the chicken with fritos but she said the chicken was on the dry side. We had the Gin St.Clements as our drink and again a really refreshing drink which we both enjoyed and would have again. .
