In an historic area of Basingstoke, Café Rouge serves brasserie-style French cuisine in an authentic environment. Boosted by a lively buzz, Café Rouge is a popular venue for French dining.

As part of the nationwide chain of Café Rouge restaurants, this branch offers their range of classic French dishes such as confit duck, beef bourguignon, steak frites and mussels. Smaller dishes are also on offer for a lighter bite. Particularly good value for money are the set menus for lunch and dinner (available most days). To accompany the food there is also a good range of French wines, many from less well known producers.

In true French style, breakfast is also an important meal at Café Rouge. With croissants, pain au chocolat, omelettes and croques, as well as hot chocolate, tea and all types of coffees, it makes a great start to the day.

A 10-minute walk from Festival Place shopping centre, Café Rouge - Basingstoke has an al fresco dining area.

Table booked for 4 for noon. Waiter offered drinks once we were seated and gave us menus. Left plenty of time to choose before ordering. Lots of choices for all courses. Poured wine for tasting, showing bottle label. We had a voucher for a free bottle of house wine and it was very good. Delicious and well-presented food served efficiently without invading diners conversation. Have been before and will definitely go again, and would recommend.

Relaxed Sunday lunch for our wedding anniversary. Attentive, friendly service. Lovely food and wine. Only downside was amount of unavailable dishes, but this turned out to be because the menu was being completely changed the following day!

We had a lovely meal as we normally do at Cafe Rouge. I am a veggie and it is great that I have a choice of things I can eat. The staff are very friendly and they are always very polite.

Great service, great food and staff went the extra mile for my teenage daughter whose birthday it was. Is so much better than the average Basingstoke restaurant.
