What a lovely holiday treat. A full range of savoury and sweet in this afternoon tea. A nice side room, not too crowded and very helpful and pleasant , friendly staff. A lovely experience

We booked afternoon tea and on arrival saw a large queue at the Cafe counter so asked a member of staff if we were in the right place. She immediately showed us through to a quiet area with a reserved table. She asked us if we wanted a drink straightaway and brought pots of tea prior to our 'tea' being delivered. The food was good, especially the small soups. there was plenty of food for us and the level of service was just right, helpful and on hand but never intrusive. Definitely a must if you are visiting the Portrait Gallery anyway.

We ate in the side room to the restaurant, was a perfect location for casual but smart dinning. Lovely food and outstanding service. Made Mother's Day extra special. Not one complaint.

I booked the special Mother's Day afternoon tea with prosecco at the Portrait Cafe. The whole experience was excellent. The staff were extremely attentive and looked after us so well. Nothing seemed too much trouble. The afternoon tea was scrumptious! From the little cup of soup with cheese scone to start; followed by delicious sandwiches, scones and a delightful selection of sweet treats. It was really good value for money and I would not hesitate to book at this restaurant again or at another of the eating places run by this company.
