The tart was lovely but the salad was just assorted lettuce and boring with no dressing .

Inside the iconic Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, Café Modern Two is a stylish eatery that boasts period features, mirrored ceilings, and even sculptures from the gallery itself. Wholesome lunches and traditional afternoon teas are paired with a carefully crafted wine list.

The Café Modern Two menu focuses on wholesome, flavourful European recipes for its lunch menus. Fresh focaccia sandwiches are generously filled, while mains include lightly chargrilled salmon with fresh greens. Warming soups are popular choices, and antipasti platters of cured meats and delicate cheeses are perfect for groups to share.

Afternoon teas at Café Modern Two in Edinburgh are wonderfully traditional, and include warm scones with jam and clotted cream, loose leaf teas, fingers sandwiches, and sweet treats like mini redcurrant and almond cakes.

A tranquil, stylish spot to refuel whilst browsing the galleries, Café Modern Two is moments from the Water of Leith, and only 15 minutes' walk from Haymarket Train Station.

very agreeable light lunch. Excellent service - I walk with a stick, and was given every form of help and consideration, choice of table, etc..

In a word : Excellent. Booked afternoon tea for 6, as 'something different' to do while celebrating a birthday. Everything from the cafe setting, to the service (even though the place was VERY busy) to the really tasty food was great. Small portion of about 10 different items each person from savoury to sweet (including fruit scone / jam / cream!!). Various (many) real teas and coffees (unlimited). Left feeling overindulgent AND full.

Situated within the gallery of modern art in an area with very little competition apart from a nearby excellent cafeteria service in the other half of the gallery. One advantage here is that you can book a table because both are usually very crowded. The service is excellent although slow when busy. Food is very variable although cakes and scones good.

Great food and service in a fabulous art gallery setting. Went for lunch with colleagues from work and we all loved the food and the cultural ambience. A beautiful setting.

Five of us enjoyed cullen skink, broccoli and cheddar soup and winter vegetable and pearl barley soup followed by coffee and cakes. Great bread with the soup. It was all delicious and our waiter was exceptionally nice and helpful.
