Within the grand surroundings of the Chesterfield Hotel, Butler’s Restaurant in Mayfair offers quintessentially British dining. This opulent dining room is as popular with local residents as it is with hotel guests, offering a warm and intimate atmosphere in the heart of London’s most exclusive district, just 6 minutes' walk from Green Park Tube Station.

Famed for serving the best Dover sole in London, Aberdeen Angus steaks also feature on the Butler’s grill menu. Herb crusted loin of lamb and Gloucester Old Spot pork belly make decadent mains, while a different roast is served up daily from the Butler’s carving trolley.

Influences from around the UK are found on the Butler’s menu, from Morecambe Bay potted shrimps to Colchester crab cakes. Recognising the British love of comfort food, Butler’s serves warm English apple tart with ice cream, and steamed pear and ginger pudding and custard for dessert.

Never underestimating the importance of good wine, you can taste a selection of the Butler’s sommelier’s choices – or yours – in the ‘Flight of Wine’. In the heart of chic Mayfair, Butler’s Restaurant in London also offers an ever-popular pre-theatre menu: perfect for those pushed for time before the curtain goes up.

Willy Wonka was amusing and his appearances added some novelty to the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory theme!

Absolutely amazing experience, Charlie and the chocolate factory themed, came here to celebrate my 30th birthday with some friends, greeted by a lovely doorman who guided us to the restaurant, we sat in like a conservatory which was lovely and bright, they catered to all our needs, even mr wonka came to see us, he offered us all some everlasting gobstoppers and a letter with an offer inside on your next visit. The chicken sandwiches were the best, my friends couldnt get enough and the chocolate golden egg was lovely. The scones were a bit cakey for my liking? I would have liked them to be more firm so I could actually spread the cream and jam on it but it was so soft that it crumbled, that was my only critic. They literally replenished our tiers at every opportunity, definitely got our monies worth, would highly recommend and would like to come here again.

Great service, staff were very accommodating, lovely food, our 3 year old really enjoyed her afternoon birthday tea, even if Willy Wonka was a bit scary looking.

My friend and I came for afternoon tea and there are no other words, other than, absolutely outstanding. Our butler, Marius, made the whole experience one that we will never forget, he was warm, welcoming and extremely friendly.
All parts of the afternoon tea was amazing and nothing was too much trouble for the staff!
We both loved the roast chicken and almond sandwiches! We'll be trying to replicate those at home!
The little cake brought out for my friend for her birthday made it even more special.
We will most definitely be back!

The gluten free option had good variety and did not seem like the poor cousin of the regular Afternoon Tea. The gluten free scones were very good - light and fluffy as scones should be and served warm.

The sandwiches of the regular Afternoon Tea was our highlight, the chicken and almond our favourite.

Service was very good - the Irish trainee waiter was excellent.

We have booked our return in January 2017.

I was actually disappointed with my experience of afternoon tea at Butlers. We arrived when the area was empty, only 1 other group were seated and we were shown the worst table in the room. We asked to move but they were a bit reluctant to as they said they were booked out but I didn't see why we couldn't move to another table for 2 people when it was empty. Then our afternoon tea arrived and it looked like it had been standing around for ages. The sandwiches were dry and the scones were rock hard that I nearly broke my tooth biting in to it. We asked for fresh ones and were reluctantly given some but only the chocolate ones and not the plain scones so we only received half of what we should have had. We kept trying to get the waiters attention and really struggled so getting more sandwiches or top of tea etc was quite difficult.

We experienced the afternoon tea inspired by Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Must admit it was very good. The tea was endless, as was the food. Good quality and tasty. The restaurant was charming and well designed. Highly recommended.
