Inspired by the rustic dishes and bold flavours of the Mediterranean, Burley Manor and its wood-fired kitchen produce food that is from the heart, to be enjoyed together in relaxed, spectacular surroundings.

Advocates of the slow food movement, time is spent finding the finest produce from as close to the restaurant as possible. Making the most of its New Forest location, ingredients on the Burley Manor menu are sourced from forest to coast using the unrivalled choice of local suppliers, before the traditional wood-fired oven brings out the best in them.

Guests can also enjoy a unique, tailored Mediterranean feast on the chef’s table in the Butler’s Pantry whilst watching their dishes cooking in the wood-fired oven. Chat away with the chefs, enjoy a glass of champagne and sample an array of different dishes from the region of your choice as they come straight from oven to table. Served in the cosy pantry with 2 bench seat, the price includes a bottle of champagne for the table, and a 3-course regional Mediterranean feast for between 6 and 8 people.

    We had a fantastic evening here. The food was first class and the staff couldn't have been more professional and friendly, would recommend to anyone.

    Setting lovely as ever and food quality good. Service a little lacking, had to ask for our bread and then a side order which hadn't appeared. Staff did not seem very connected.

    The dining experience was commendable and first class. The menu was imaginative and the food excellent; it was well cooked and nicely presented to make it a most memorable experience. The breakfast was another great experience, with a large selection of things to choose from and it was simply perfect. I would go as far to say that it was probably the best breakfast that I have ever had from any hotel in the U.K.

    I was having such a great time talking about paints and wallpaper. The staff were not at all intrusive. They brought the food and drinks out meticulously. There was no hesitation at all when I asked for vegetarian or when another guest asked for a herbal tea. And service was swift too.

    A fantastic evening for my wife's birthday. First visit and we were both very impressed. Amazing setting with superb views. The food was not a let down and we will certainly be returning in the future!

    I really can't rate their afternoon teas high enough! To start with, the hotel is situated in lovely grounds with a great view. The room was spacious with comfortable chairs. The staff were friendly and really helpfull. Then there's the food. Presented on an A ffame with 2 slate shelves all the bread and cakes were really fresh and tasty. The scones were my favourite. Thank you. Will be visiting again.

    Lovely sunny day, so the atmosphere was good as was the overall service. However, despite the roast beef being perfectly fine, the lamb was not so. In addition, it might have been a good idea to perhaps have additional vegetables (not exactly plentiful...) etc. in a separate dish or two on the table, rather than the entire meal for us all just on four plates? That apart, a small cake + birthday candle was appreciated. Result: I would suggest this to others, noting the location rather than food. However, others in my party might not.

    My dining experience was extremely disappointing predominately from a service perspective. There appeared to be no co-ordination between staff and very little knowledge of the menu. We felt rushed whilst enjoying pre-dinner drinks in the lounge area even though it was 6:50 and the table was booked for 7pm. The waiter said that the restaurant was over booked that evening and seemed to want us to go through early to our table. I thought that food portions were very small for the prices charged. The menu did not make it clear that vegetables were already included with the mains. This led to us ordering additional vegetables unnecessarily at extra cost. friend asked for the cheese platter as a dessert and clearly said could I have 5 cheeses. Only 3 small cheeses arrived. When he questioned the waiter he looked confused and said..."Let me get my supervisor". Often there seemed to be communication issues between what we said and what the staff thought we said. After payment of the bill and leaving the restaurant I was approached by a member of staff and asked quite can I help you?, this seemed strange as we were clearly leaving? My observation of the service experience was that the staff could benefit from some training on how to provide a better level of customer service. We left quite disappointed with Burley Manor after having high expectations and having read positive reviews.

    We were rushed from the start, I asked if we could have a drink before hand, that request was denied as your staff member said that you like to 'stick to timings' that annoyed me as the three previous times i'd dined with you, having a drink before hand was no problem whatsover.

    The other disappointing aspect was that the mussels had changed, when I last visited, the portion was larger with a type of flatbread above the mussels, which was excellent. The mussels we had on Friday night, were not as good. Also, no offer of anything else? If you're changing the portion size and reducing the serving but charging the same, you could include chips or offer bread etc.

    Not to sound xenophobic as I am not, but the foreign waiting staff, and their crasp of english did not help with ordering. I'm a local and will be back, but were disappointed with last nights visit. 2/3 isn't bad though.
