Enjoyed our meal - four of the five of us had the two course deal and we were impressed that we could use the £15 voucher I'd printed off.

Occupying a spot in the financial centre of London, Browns Brasserie & Bar – Old Jewry is housed in a building which was previously the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. Situated close to the Bank of England, Browns opens at 7 a.m. each morning for breakfast meetings, and goes on to serve a delicious variety of European dishes for lunch and dinner.

Spanning from breakfast through to lunch and dinner, the Browns menu offers all-day brasserie dining. Indulgent plats du jour and Sunday roasts are staple favourites, while sumptuous European flavours include lobster tagliatelle, the wild boar & chorizo burger, or steak pie with buttered mash and broad beans. A sophisticated children’s menu at Browns offers tempting favourites with a grown-up twist.

Showcasing a penchant for cocktails, the Browns bar offers an array of classic mixes, signature concoctions and thirst-quenching mocktails, as well as fine world wines, smoothies and creamy milkshakes. Enjoy Browns’ afternoon tea and cake accompanied freshly-roasted coffee from an independent supplier, or a warming pot of loose leaf tea.

Browns Brasserie & Bar – Old Jewry in Bank is a 6-minute walk from Mansion House & St Paul’s Tube stations.

Found the venue to be light, airy, well spaced out and the service was exceptional. Food was cooked very well and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Our Financial Director has made a note of having future meals there when entertaining!

I've dined here with friends a lot, including 3 times in the past 2 weeks, but I'm afraid that my experience yesterday was one of the worst I've had anywhere. I ordered the chicken and tarragon pie, which I've had several times before. It arrived very quickly but when I cut in to the pale pastry, the 'sauce' was like water and the puff pastry had sunk in to it, creating a grey, uncooked, soggy mess. I sent it back and ordered fish and chips - that too arrived very quickly. The fish portion was much smaller than when I'd dined there on Monday. When I cut in to it the batter was undercooked, white and stoggy and the fish almost non-existant (5 'mouthfuls'). I left all of the batter but didn't actually complain this time (but regret that - it was very poor even with 25% off), other than to ask that the chef be told. It's a lovely environment but I'm sorry to say that although it's so near to the office I'll not be returning again.

Food good. Serving staff attentive. No disapproval if you ordered tap water - big tick for that one. But very disappointed with the fresh mint tea - the leaves were not fresh - obviously from several days ago and were brown: 2 of us ordered the tea and there was obviously not enough for 2 - we had about 5 leaves in each pot and the 'tea' had virtually no flavour. Didn't complain as in a rush- should have done and asked for money back. Have had mint tea there before and it was good. Would have preferred to have been told it wasn't available on this occasssion.

Had lunch with an old friend and wanted somewhere where we could talk. The restaurant was nice and busy but not noisy so we could have a good conversation. The menu was good and the wine by the glass quite decent. Pricey but that's the City for you...
