Service was good. Portions were small l had beef rib which was 1rib 1 mushroom and a bowl of chips with grilled tomatoes my partner had hake which also was a small portion. The table was on a corner on a bench there was nowhere to put my wife's coat and bag. She was elbowed several times by people next to her. She moved her bag behind her back and the lady next to her moved it again. Very uncomfortable.

The food was pretty good, although a touch pricy. The atmosphere was good - we went at lunchtime on a Sunday and there was a pianist playing and a gentle murmur of background sound which was unobtrusive. The building is tastefully decorated and old which brings the first of the issues - disabled access is poorly signed and is via the rear entrance and a fire door which someone has to open for you from the inside. The toilets are upstairs - two long flights for ladies and gents. Didn't see signs for disabled and didn't like to ask so may be best to check before booking if this would be an issue for you. The venue is a little out of the way but there is a fair bit of disabled parking around it. The second issue was perhaps a minor one (unless you prefer traditional food!) and that was that the desserts and mains were all somewhat complex - great if you like a little variation on your food, but my wife would have preferred a more traditional choice for dessert - especially not being able to order her dessert with custard.

We had a lovely meal at Browns, the food was of a very high quality and the staff very attentive. My sister absolutely loved her vegetarian beetroot tatin; good vegetarian food is often hard to find. We had such a good time the restaurant was closing before we knew it.

We booked afternoon tea it was alright but we would have loved more savourey we had to many cakes we left a few of them . and the tiny brioche rolls lacked fillings. bread would have been nice as the brioche also tasted sweet . To be honest we were all craving food an hour after we left so we went to the chippy .. the staff and service was good If we are ever visiting again we wouldnt go for the afternoon tea as we did not feel it was value for money .
