Within easy reach of Leeds Art Gallery and the Grand Theatre & Opera House, Browns Brasserie & Bar – Leeds is situated on the city’s main east to west central avenue, the Headrow, in the historic heart of the city. Next door to The Light entertainment centre, this welcoming eatery is housed in a converted building complete with wood-panelling.
Spanning from breakfast through to lunch and dinner, the Browns menu offers all-day brasserie dining. Indulgent plats du jour and Sunday roasts are staple favourites, while sumptuous European flavours include lobster tagliatelle, the wild boar & chorizo burger, or steak pie with buttered mash and broad beans. A sophisticated children’s menu at Browns offers tempting favourites with a grown-up twist.
Showcasing a penchant for cocktails, the Browns bar offers an array of classic mixes, signature concoctions and thirst-quenching mocktails, as well as fine world wines, smoothies and creamy milkshakes. Enjoy Browns’ afternoon tea and cake accompanied freshly-roasted coffee from an independent supplier, or a warming pot of loose leaf tea.
Browns Brasserie & Bar Leeds is just a 9-minute walk from Leeds Rail Station.

Excellent atmosphere, very attentive staff and a great choice of delicious food. We had a fantastic date night here in beautiful surroundings. Very reasonably priced too and cocktails to die for!

The food was decent but the staff (they could be students?) were at times busy chatting amongst each other and it took some time to get their attention to order our food. I needed to get up to get the waitress to pay because I could not sit waiting for them to come over. Also the water took 10 minutes to come - and we were thirsty. But the food was decent despite all of that.

We booked the deal for two courses from the brasserie menu for 10.95 each. Because we didn't mention this when seated we didn't get the deal and we were told that we would only have had choice from the early bird set menu - not the brasserie menu as we thought. They charged us full price and that might not have been so bad if the food was good but it wasn't. The starters were nice but the main courses were extremely poor. My husband had a steak pie that was dry, part burnt and hardly any filling. I had overlooked lamb cutlets with a shepherds pie that had not been warmed up properly and tasted of garlic. I am intolerant of garlic and so when it is in a dish I know it but the waiter said there was just thyme and veal jus in it- I suggest they check the veal jus ingredients then because it was in there. Even my husband could taste it. Waiter very dismissive and ignored our comments about the meal. We won't be going back there again and suggest you don't waste your money either. It would not have been good value even if we had only paid 10.95 each.

I took my daughter for lunch for her birthday. We chose from the £10.95 lunch menu my daughter had the slow roast beef sandwich and I had the chicken breast. Although the mains were delicious the desserts were fab. I had the wonderfully creamy lemon posset and my daughter had the sorbet and fruits. A lovely atmosphere and the old fashioned Edwardian surroundings made the lunch even more special. Will try the afternoon tea next time????

The food in general was good. What let our experience down WA the mix up with the bill at the end of the evening. We had been overcharged as the deal for 2 courses at £10.95 had not been given. It was eventually resolved but took a long time.
