In the heart of one of London’s most vibrant areas, surrounded by theatres, galleries and shops, Browns Brasserie & Bar – Covent Garden serves a mouth-watering variety of British & European-inspired dishes. Housed in a converted building which was previously the Westminster County Court, Browns also offers pre- and post-theatre suppers.

Spanning from breakfast through to lunch and dinner, the Browns menu offers all-day brasserie dining. Indulgent plats du jour and Sunday roasts are staple favourites, while sumptuous European flavours include lobster tagliatelle, the wild boar & chorizo burger, or steak pie with buttered mash and broad beans. A sophisticated children’s menu at Browns offers tempting favourites with a grown-up twist.

Showcasing a penchant for cocktails, the Browns bar offers an array of classic mixes, signature concoctions and thirst-quenching mocktails, as well as fine world wines, smoothies and creamy milkshakes. Enjoy Browns’ afternoon tea and cake accompanied freshly-roasted coffee from an independent supplier, or a warming pot of loose leaf tea.

Browns Brasserie & Bar - Covent Garden is just a 2-minute walk from Leicester Square Tube Station.

I have dined here about three times and chosen it for pre-theatre dining. This visit was not a smooth as previous times. We were placed on a table right by the back door, which while locked, was opened several times to let in wheelchair users; I have no problem with access for all but it was not conducive for us to have a warm environment as a blast of cold air came in and many people tried to get both in and out of the door and got annoyed when it did not open. The waiter was slower than others I had experienced here before. I sat for over 5 minutes before he approached to ask for a drink. He took my wine order and said he would bring me the menus. Over ten minutes later I had to ask for both. At the end of the meal I had to ask three times for the bill as we had a deadline to get to the theatre; despite having mentioned it earlier. Food absolutely fine as usual.

Great food & service, but it would have been good to have done a little extra something to acknowledge my daughter's 18th birthday, as I had put it on the booking form.

The restaurant was packed and we had to wait ten minutes for our table. This was fine though. We had plenty of room at the table and the service was amazing. So prompt and everything perfect. Really good food. Beautifully presented and very tasty.

Very enjoyable experience. The food was good, the service was good, very polite and attentive, without being constantly in your face.

This was our first visit to Browns Brasserie & Bar as we could not get into our usual haunt for a post matinee dinner. Our first surprise was that it was directly next door to the Noel Coward Theatre (our matinee venue) and so we had no trouble finding the place. The whole place was busy and there were always people waiting for tables so we were glad we booked in advance! As it happened were quite early but we were seated without fuss at a good table where we were out of the main traffic but could observe the hustle and bustle of a busy brasserie. Service was good, unhurried but fast, friendly and efficient. We went for the Lamb Cutlets with Shepherds pie which was very good and presented well, washed down with a nice Rioja as part of a voucher deal for 2 mains and a bottle for less than 30 quid! Still room for desert so I had the salted caramel profiteroles which went down well very nicely.
As chain restaurants go this one is definitely above average for menu and service - the two factors I always look for. Our only criticism is that it follows the current trend for being quite noisy with walls and floor that reflect sound, so a romantic venue this is not. But I would have no hesitation for recommending this place for any other occasion be it for a night out with friends or family. Tables near us showed us just the variety of dining Browns can offer so this pace is firmly on our list!
