Really nice place with excellent service and delicious food. We had the afternoon tea with a gin and tonic which was just lovely. Good portion size, great tea and a very reasonable price.

Situated in the heart of the city, in a converted wing of the old Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Browns Brasserie & Bar Cambridge serves tasty European-inspired dishes and colourful cocktails in a lively atmosphere. Set in a building close to the River Cam gorgeous Virginia creeper frames the entrance, and Browns boasts a terrace for sunny summer dining.

Spanning from breakfast through to lunch and dinner, the Browns menu offers all-day brasserie dining. Indulgent plats du jour and Sunday roasts are staple favourites, while sumptuous flavours include roasted lamb with potatoes & minted peas, Browns’ signature fish pie, and decadent salted caramel profiteroles. A sophisticated children’s menu at Browns offers tempting favourites with a grown-up twist.

Showcasing a penchant for cocktails, the Browns bar offers an array of classic mixes, signature concoctions and thirst-quenching mocktails, as well as fine world wines, smoothies and creamy milkshakes. Enjoy Browns’ afternoon tea and cake accompanied freshly-roasted coffee from an independent supplier, or a warming pot of loose leaf tea.

We were looking forward to seeing how Brown's had been redecorated but as soon as we walked through the door we all felt incredibly sad that an absolutely awful refurbishment has completely ruined one of Cambridge's most popular restaurants. It is clearest case I have seen in years of how an interior designer can completely wreck a great atmosphere and a great restaurant!! The bar is horrendous; the chairs are really cheap, in truly awful colours and the whole place now feels cold and clinical. The screen that greets you when you first walk in looks like something out of a gent's toilet! What a terrible shame!! We have been regular customers since the restaurant first opened but sadly we won't be anymore, as we all absolutely hate the new design!!! It is so sad that they have completely wrecked somewhere that we used to enjoy visiting several times a month! All 6 of us felt the same! The food is still roughly the same but the service was incredibly slow, as it had only just re-opened when we went for dinner and no doubt everyone, like us, was there for a first look at the changes. I imagine the honeymoon period for the new style will be short lived! Thankfully we have loads of photographs of family and friends meeting there for lunch and dinner, so we can reminisce how it used to look before they put their trust in a terrible interior designer!!

Had a lovely meal last night at browns, I had the Devon crab on toast to start followed by the pork belly both full of flavour and enjoyed the mini pie that comes with it. Waitress was brilliant helped us out alot 5* to her.

We had the meal offer of two courses plus a glass of wine for £19.95. My beef croquette and scallops was really good and my main course of lamb rump could not be faulted. I asked for medium and got it and the portion was very good indeed. My wife's meal was also splendid. We had coffee and we were served with hot milk as requested.

I was doubtful as to the quality of the wine that we were going to be offered but pleasantly surprised at the choice. We both had a lovely glass of Pinot Noir.

All in all, a very good dining experience. Well done to the Chef.

Waited too long to be served , we booked a special £19.95 meal to include 2 courses and a drink. The waiter did not seem to know about the offer and we waited a long time to get a drink. Was going to order another drink but decided the wait was too long. The ambience was good but as usual Saturday night a lot of people and the staff were pushed. The food was OK and the waiter was good but just too busy. We have always like Browns and will go again but not for a while.
