Once a part of the Bristol Museum & Art Gallery, the building housing Browns Brasserie & Bar Bristol is modelled on the Doge’s palace in Venice, and is situated just next to the prestigious University of Bristol. Part of the landscape of this vibrant city, the brasserie serves a menu of British and European-inspired cuisine in a lively, friendly environment.

Spanning from breakfast through to lunch and dinner, the Browns menu offers all-day brasserie dining. Indulgent plats du jour and Sunday roasts are staple favourites, while sumptuous European flavours include lobster tagliatelle, the wild boar & chorizo burger, or steak pie with buttered mash and broad beans. A sophisticated children’s menu at Browns offers tempting favourites with a grown-up twist.

Showcasing a penchant for cocktails, the Browns bar offers an array of classic mixes, signature concoctions and thirst-quenching mocktails, as well as fine world wines, smoothies and creamy milkshakes. Enjoy Browns’ afternoon tea and cake accompanied freshly-roasted coffee from an independent supplier, or a warming pot of loose leaf tea.

Browns Brasserie & Bar Bristol is just a 15-minute walk from Clifton Down Rail Station.

I ordered crispy duck salad. It was very bland and disappointing. I would think twice before eating at Brown's again.

Friendly staff, portions a bit large but good food. Fresh mint tea needs ways more mint!!

Enjoyed my choice of food although my friends steak was overdone.

This visit was disappointing compared to previous visits. Long delays for food service ( 1 hour between starter and main course ), there appeared to be a shortage of staff leading to waiters and waitresses being under pressure trying to satisfy too many tables each. The food was also disappointing my vegetables were hard and undercooked and a Caesar salad appeared to have been thrown onto the dish. This was such a shame because we have really enjoys our visits here previously.

Really good evening. Well looked after by waiter. Good selection on the menu. Found it difficult to choose. Enjoyed all our 3 courses, except our desserts. Our brandy snap baskets were solid and could not be eaten and one dessert out of the 6 was not cooked at the bottom. My friend complained about his undercooked dessert and the waiter took the dessert off the bill. Would definitely eat here again though,as overall enjoyed our visit.
