Opened over a century ago, the snug Britannia has not lost its sense of late Victorian dignity. Log fires and a sturdy wooden bar provide the perfect backdrop for elegant dining at this Kensington pub-restaurant.

The Britannia menu is a daily-changing homage to British classics, with London bangers and mash and steak and real ale pie keeping company with Maldon rock oysters. Sunday lunch, which can be enjoyed in the light and airy Britannia conservatory, features locally-sourced Dingley Dell pork belly and comes with goose fat-roasted potatoes and lovingly hand-crafted ‘yorkies’.

Traditionally decorated, the Britannia features artwork of the original Britannia brewery and luxury leather armchairs. Here guests can relax and sup a hearty pint of Young’s award-winning beer, or a glass of wine from the carefully selected wine list. Bar snacks include rich mini venison pies and moreish zucchini fries.

Just a minute’s walk from Kensington High Street, the Britannia is a slice of London heritage not to be missed.

The food took about 50 mins to come - it seemed the kitchen was overwhelmed.

I have eaten many times at the Britannia. Every time we want someone to experience proper British food at its best we go there. as a pub with a real kitchen, they cook and serve fresh food and present it well. Fish & chips is a must, crisp and not too oily, sunday roast, duck breast, but also veggie dishes are tasty and rich.

The food was good. VERY generous portion size (hence no room for dessert!) Sharing starter and the haggis were excellent as were the roast dinners.....
The slow service let the experience down. They seemed to be short staffed, only 3 staff serving the dining and busy pub area.....(Kitchen staff extra) drinks and coffee ordered on arrival - the coffee was forgotten. The bill took 20 minutes to arrive.
Décor and seating area interesting and comfortable. Tables not too close together so space and privacy. Liked the round tables so 6 people could eat and talk tighter easily.
