Food was lovely

Food was quite nice, good presentation but quite overpriced for the quality, service was very very slow. Would probably dine elsewhere if staying in the hotel again.

The choice of cakes was huge and the staff were excellent at refilling our tea pots up and asking if we would like anymore sandwiches,we were stuffed! Lovely relaxing atmosphere, thoughrally enjoyed our experience.

On this occasion we feel our experience was not up to the standard usually received. The food was just plonked on the table with no indication of what was being served. We had advised on 2 previous occasions that we had a vegetarian in our party but the sandwiches were all the same consisting of Turkey, Salmon,Cheese and egg. As one of the party was a vegetarian we expected egg and cheese not turkey and salmon replacements. The staff were not very caring or interested that we were using your services when they were around, as most of the time there was no staff to be seen. On wanting to pay for the afternoon tea I had to wait quite some considerable time at the pay desk when a member of staff did eventually ask if they could help I advised I wanted to make payment. To which they then had to go and find a pay machine as there was not one in the area. It was then discovered that the machine did not work in the area that we were in and we had to move nearer the docking station which meant I was on the middle of the staircase making payment whilst being watched by a party in another room which I did find quite embarassing.

Afternoon tea. We were given a glass of champagne for 2 of us at £8.50 a glass - no wait +12.5% surcharge.
The other 3 were given a pot of tea each which when the sandwiches and cakes arrived they were cold.
The sandwiches were 4 finger sandwiches each, although my Grandma was given 4 for herself.
The 3 trays of food 2 of cake and only one of sandwiches was not adequate. There should have been more sandwiches
The tea was cold when the sandwiches arrived, the service was poor.
No this wasn't the first time we went for afternoon tea, I took my Grandma for her 90th Birthday and it was good, hence we visited again.
Oh and we were put in a room on our own, no ambience at all.
This was for my mother, father, Grandmas, and partners Christmas present. It's very unlikely I will revisit.

Christmas themed champagne afternoon tea; lovely servers working on Christmas Eve, friendly bar staff afterwards, and peaceful atmosphere in a gorgeous hotel.
