First diners of the evening and everything was perfect - the welcome, pre-dinner aperitifs, the service, the wine list and the Pouily Fume - heavenly, the smoked haddock gratin followed by rare venison - a great start to our Saturday evening out.

We cannot fault this lovely restaurant, we had five in our party and all the food was beautiful, lovely setting and fantastic staff, a very enjoyable and memorable evening.

Lovely restaurant. Small car park nearby and some on street parking. £2 after 6pm.
Great choice on menu and additional specials. The venison with blackberries and hazelnuts was obviously popular!
Our table overlooked the canal basin. Staff were very friendly and efficient. Between us we had crispy prawns and the hot pork apple and black pudding pie to start. The pea puree was delicious!
For mains we had venison and lamb rump and couldn't fit in dessert!
We ate before 6.30 so the menu had 25% off food. The menu we were given already had the reduced prices on.

    Would definitely recommend.

Overall a delightful meal. We both had the soup of the day - Mushroom and Tarragon - which was delicious. My wife's venison with blackberries and hazelnuts was excellent and my pork tenderloin with white beans and wild mushrooms was very enjoyable. Our bottle of Rioja was very acceptable for the price. Staff were courteous, friendly and helpful. This was our third visit: there will be more in the future.

We very much enjoyed a family lunch here yesterday. The service was warm, friendly, efficient, and just right! The food - 2 starters, 4 main, and 2 desserts were delicious and nicely presented. The duck was particularly good.Offering a sharing desert platter this would be a welcome option for those with a sweet tooth who don't want portions to be too heavy. The location is very interesting and a chauffeur drive to the venue was a personal added touch appreciated by us all ( even though the drive takes as long as walking!)

Nice food, pleasant location (canalside) but strangely no other diners at weekday lunch - wonder why?

We booked a table for 5 having eaten at Brasserie forty 4 last year. The food was excellent as usual as was the service. The restaurant is charming and was very busy.
