A funky industrial space inside the iconic Barbican Centre, Bonfire specialises in burgers, rotisserie chicken and all manner of U.S. comfort foods. Outside there is a huge terrace space overlooking the mini lake, perfect for an evening cocktail.

The Bonfire menu really packs in a great selection of flame-grilled treats. On the burger side, there is the classic cheese, bacon and BBQ sauce option, or diners can choose patties packed with truffle mayo, BBQ pulled pork and green chillies, or even a vegetarian choice of portobello mushroom, grilled halloumi and smoked paprika. There is spit-roast chicken from the rotisserie, and sides like fries topped with blue cheese.

Desserts at Bonfire restaurant at the Barbican are just as indulgent – there is salted caramel brownie with vanilla bean ice cream, and even gluten-free options like white chocolate cheesecake. On the drink menu, there are rich milkshakes, a choice of craft beers, and cocktails like classic mojitos and negronis.

Bonfire in London is 5 minutes' walk from Barbican Tube Station.

Atmosphere good so all seemed ok. Food - on ordering the burger requested dirty chips, was told this not possible, burger served cold disappointing. Cobb salad was disappointing. I expected lines of ingredients not a bowl of leaves with a few strips of chicken scattered on top half an egg and avocado with its skin on, new one on me. Wine glasses were tumblers when other tables had stemmed glasses - why. Coffee was luke warm, dessert ordered never materialised and had to be taken off the bill.

Poorly staffed. Some food cold. Food order errors. Bill errors for drinks. Too long between ordering and food service.
    Unfortunately not a good experience.
    Online booking good. Good location.

The meal we had was 'middle of the road'. Really nothing special. Service was again just ok. Coffee was cold. Seats not very comfortable for older people but suppose ok for younger generation.

Food was OK nothing special, my chicken was also little bit dry.

Not much atmosphere but he most off putting thing was how cold the restaurant was. The name Bonfire was a bit if a misnomer. People, including my husband were keeping ther coats on. And I used my scarf as a shawl to provide some extra warmth.

Staff were very friendly but over stretched.

The food and service were both excellent. The service from the kitchen was very slow, considering how few customers were in the restaurant when we ordered. The restaurant was very cold. The tables were clean, with adequate supplies of cutlery and napkins. Good Stuff Melt Burgers were really tasty, but chips were only lukewarm. Pecan Pie was excellent and Chocolate Brownies were served really hot and were very tasty.
We would me more than happy to eat here again.

Do not book this hugely disappointing restaurant.
The service is poor and some of the food is inedible. The two previous incarnations of this Barbican restaurant as a bistro and a tapas bar both had excellent service and good, value for money, food. This one has neither. They seemed surprised to find that diners needed to get to the show at the end of their meal! The menu is very limited and yet the food was poorly cooked (my wife's medium rare steak turned up blue), and attempts to rectify this problem were both hugely time consuming and ultimately resulted in an overdone and cold meal being returned to her. How they managed to achieve both states at once beggars belief.
We will not be using this restaurant again.
