A funky industrial space inside the iconic Barbican Centre, Bonfire specialises in burgers, rotisserie chicken and all manner of U.S. comfort foods. Outside there is a huge terrace space overlooking the mini lake, perfect for an evening cocktail.

The Bonfire menu really packs in a great selection of flame-grilled treats. On the burger side, there is the classic cheese, bacon and BBQ sauce option, or diners can choose patties packed with truffle mayo, BBQ pulled pork and green chillies, or even a vegetarian choice of portobello mushroom, grilled halloumi and smoked paprika. There is spit-roast chicken from the rotisserie, and sides like fries topped with blue cheese.

Desserts at Bonfire restaurant at the Barbican are just as indulgent – there is salted caramel brownie with vanilla bean ice cream, and even gluten-free options like white chocolate cheesecake. On the drink menu, there are rich milkshakes, a choice of craft beers, and cocktails like classic mojitos and negronis.

Bonfire in London is 5 minutes' walk from Barbican Tube Station.

Had 6:30 reservation for 7:30 concert time. Assumed burgers and salads would be quick but it took longer for our food to arrive (even though the restaurant wasn't very busy) and we barely made it out in time.
Our three dishes were good, not great (burger, steak sandwich, kale caesar salad with chicken). My caesar was sloppily composed but taste was okay. A little heavy on the dressing. Ordered a large glass of chenin blanc which did not appear to be a large. More concerning was the fact that it had a pink tinge to it - almost as if a little bit of rose had been added to the glass. Second glass did not have the tinge of pink. Odd. Daughter ordered a classic mojito which was not blended properly. All the rum, sugar, and mint was buried at the bottom of the glass by a mountain of crushed ice, making it impossible to stir. Should have sent it back but assumed it would be stir-able in time but never really was.
So convenient to dine at the Barbican before a performance but wish there were better options. Best I can say is it wasn't terrible.

Excellent food but very busy on a Friday evening .Our service at 5.45 superb but observed later diners frustrated and complaining and waiting staff frazzled

Extremely poor service as they were seriously understaffed. Several tables, including my own, waited for half an hour without having previous diner's plates cleared and without a menu. One table managed to order drinks, only to be told 10 minutes later that they had run out of most lagers. Another table, next to ours, had been there for an hour and ordered food - only to be told that the kitchen had 'no chicken'. We left without even ordering, 40 minutes after arriving.

We were attending an event at the Barbican and gave ourselves 90 minutes to eat before the event started.
I booked for 6pm, which seemed irrelevant as no table had been set aside or booking looked up.
The restaurant was very short staffed and not fully booked. We arrived at 6pm, were greeted pleasantly and shown to a table promptly. No staff member came near the table for at least 25 minutes. Eventually our order was taken by a very flustered staff member. She was clearly rushed off her feet. It took another 15 minutes for any drinks to arrive and weren't ever asked if we needed more. Finally at 6.55pm our food arrived.
The food was tasty and possibly pleasant to eat, but we had to eat it so quickly in order to get to the event that it didn't even resister.
Other customers seemed to be complaining all around us and the table next to us left, as they had been sat for 30 mins and no one had come to take their order (despite already going up to the bar to ask for service).
    Unfortunately not a pleasant experience.

Inattentive service; salad missing stated ingredients, and dressing; burgers all overcooked (no question as to whether you want well done or rare); cheap bun wet and fell apart. Really disappointed. We would have told them ourselves but they never asked.

We went to the Barbican Centre Bonfire as a family celebration after my graduation. We could not fault the staff and the food that was available on the menu was beautifully cooked. However there were lots of things unavailable on the menu and the layout of the room was much more informal than we were expecting.
