What’s On: New Barrafina Restaurant & Independence Day Parties

This week, we bring you our newest restaurants and a selection of fun food events to send your taste buds into overdrive. Check out the Americana-themed bash at The Gun – held in honour of Independence Day – and pledge allegiance to what promises to be the best BBQ fayre in town.

1. MASH  Book MASH



Expect hefty slabs of well-travelled cattle at MASH: sourced from all over the world, their succulent steaks come from everywhere from Denmark (dry aged) to Uruguay (corn fed Hereford). A fantastic wine collection, selected by award-winning head sommelier Christian Jacobsen, is right at home in MASH’s slick dining space; elegant steakhouse dining at its best.

Perched in an enviable location overlooking Torbay harbour, Elephant Restaurant & Brasserie is Torquay’s first Michelin-starred dining venue. The menus change seasonally, and all ingredients are sourced locally, with many coming from the venue’s own dedicated farm. Dishes are presented with exquisitely-creative flair, garnished with delicate blooms to bring the taste of summer gardens to plates.

3. The Gun  Book The Gun

Let your 4th July celebrations go off with a bang at The Gun’s Independence Day weekend bash. BBQ’d American fayre, including pork ribs and Gruyere cheeseburgers, is served up alongside kegs and bottled brews from US and UK breweries. Dance the night away to live music from the sounds of blues singer Pasco Tom, and toast to Uncle Sam on the banks of the Thames.

4. Haveli   Book Haveli



Fine dining has been given a taste of Asia at Haveli in Nottingham. Bringing traditional Indian recipes up to date with innovative presentation, the Haveli menu serves up classic currys alongside charcoal-cooked and barbequed dishes, while classic cocktails are shaken and stirred at the bar. The elegant yet informal dining space ensures a fine dining experience without a whiff of pretention.

5. Barrafina

Covent Garden


Sam and Eddie Hart’s tantalising tapas dishes are to be served up in a shiny new Barrafina branch, in Covent Garden, come July 7. Seating just 29 guests in the unreserved bar, a table at the slick and polished Barrafina Covent Garden is sure to be this summer’s hottest ticket. Colourful Mallorcan and Catalan dishes are served, along with a selection of specials which change twice daily.
