SMOAKin’ New Opening

SMOAK bar and grill announced itself to Manchester in a blow out launch party that saw Sir Alex Ferguson rubbing shoulders with Linford Christie, soap stars, and the odd footballer.

The Josper grill takes centre stage in the restaurant, fierce heat doing justice to copious cuts of Belted Galloway beef. Inspired by the steakhouses of Scottsdale, Arizona, the 95 cover restaurant is decked out in sultry, moody blacks and reds, alongside shadowy corners housing sleek booths and banquettes.

Glam, glitzy, with a gritty urban edge, SMOAK was the centre of attention in Manchester as the Veuve Cliquot Champagne was poured throughout the night. Martinis with Marmalade infused Chase Vodka were also being splashed about, and the room was filled with the smoky aroma of oak chips and grilling meat.

The Ember Lounge has also now opened, a classy, soothing, calm contrast to the fire and brimstone of the Josper grill in the main room. Think private room, think private party, think cigar terrace overlooking the canal, think sipping Ruinart Blanc de Blancs Champagne. Footballers entertaining zone for sure, and Sir Alex made a beeline for the room instantly.

There’s no SMOAK without Fire as their well oiled spiel states. It’s a sexy, sassy, seductive hotel that now has a bustling restaurant at its heart. The Devil may well be in the Detail, but he’s also now making an appearance at Malmaison Manchester. Plenty of SMOAK. Plenty of fire.
