Peachy Keens – Manchester
Newly opened in Manchester, world fusion food restaurant Peachy Keens serves an all you can eat feast at fantastic value for money prices. Cuisines on offer include Thai, Chinese, Japanese, Indian, Portuguese, and Mexican – and what makes the place particularly appealing is the chance to choose your own ingredients and watch the chefs cook your meal fresh while you wait.
Set in the Printworks, the Manchester Peachy Keens follows on from successful ventures in both Birmingham and Nottingham. The interior is bright and lively, with walls decorated in the style of the London tube map but where each coloured line represents a different cuisine and the names of dishes take the place of stations.
With so many cuisines to choose from, you can mix and match to your heart’s content. The menu is frequently changing, as the team try out new dishes, and you’re sure to find plenty of your favourites available.
Whatever your mood, there will be something to suit. Spring rolls, chorizo tachos, or breaded garlic mushrooms for starters? Or how about vegetable samosa, Thai prawn rolls, or Japanese chicken Yakitor?
The range of main courses will keep everyone happy. You’ll find Chinese restaurant classics such as kungpo chicken; creamy Italian risottos; familiar hearty dishes such as chilli con carne plus lesser known ones such as Portuguese chickpea, chorizo and spinach stew, and curries of both the spicy and fragrant Thai varieties. There are pizzas, pastas, and seafood, together with a tempting display of salads ranging from sushi with wasabi through to avocado and tomato. But it’s not just the variety of food on offer that’s bringing fans back for repeat visits already. There are live cooking stations where chefs specialising in each of the different types of cooking will cook your choice of ingredients to order. Stir fry or noodles, tepanyaki dishes cooked on the Japense hotplate, freshly baked tandoori breads, South Indian dosa – pancakes with fillings and sambhar sauces – pizza, pasta and more.
Where many buffets run out of steam when it comes to dessert, Peachy Keens offers a glorious selection of cakes, jellies, fruit and ice cream. There are brownies, cheesecakes, chocolate fountains, and much more – and with a tempting array of taster size portions laid out ready, you can try as many treats as you have room for.
Pricing is simple. Lunch – where there is less live cooking on offer – is brilliant value at £6.99 Mon- Sat and £9.99 Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays; dinner is just £11.99 Sun-Thurs and £13.99. Kids eat for only £4.99 at lunchtime and £5.99 at dinner.
With such variety on offer at such good prices, it’s no surprise that Peachy Keens is fast becoming a city centre favourite.
